Why isn’t my shuffle button on the actual playlist working at all?

Hey all, the playlist shuffle button next to the green play button isn’t working at all for both playlists and albums on my Spotify app for iPhone. I have to go into a song on the now playing view and then click shuffle which seems to work fine.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app, restarted my iPhone, logged out and then back in, and cleared my cache and still nothing.

Any help is really appreciated as it’s driving me crazy, thanks in advance.

Also having this issue, looks like it’s been an ongoing issue for a few years based on Reddit posts. I’m on duo premium. I created a free account and shuffle works, went back into my account and it doesn’t. If you click the icon at the top of the playlist, nothing happens. This is so frustrating.

I have the same problem and have tried everything but still can’t get shuffle two work

i have iOS and premium. I cannot shuffle any playlist!

An other example :
 

The shuffle button on the playlist screen no longer works when tapped, you now need to go into the now playing acreen to turn shulle/smart shuffle on.
The shuffle button on the playlist screen also used to illuminate, to tell you if smart shuffle was on or not, it no longer does this, it only illuminates on the now playing screen.

I tried to see if I could replicate this on my end and wasn't able to do so. Try a clean reinstall of the Spotify app and see if this helps!

I tried this, I worked once and then stopped again

My friend is also using Spotify on his iOS device with the latest update. However, when he presses the button on the playlist, it displays a green color. Even if I enable shuffle mode and if I select a song during the shuffle, it automatically disables itself again. Everything worked great on my old account. Since I changed to an other one, it’s not working properly.

It’s incredibly frustrating, and I’m considering canceling my subscription because Spotify hasn’t resolved the issue since 4 years (the oldest Reddit post I found). Even after the price increase, when you encounter problems like that, that haven’t been resolved ?

My Question or Issue

I have a Premium Family account but for the 6th account holder, the shuffle function is not available when you open playlists. It works for all the other members, but not for the 6th one. It only works when you open a song. So, it does not work in playlists (available or personal ones) in the bar next to the pause button. However, when you open a song, the function becomes available. I tried signing off and logging in again, or signing in at different devices but that doesn't help. Any ideas?

This is still an issue. Is there any plans to come out with an update to fix the bug?

Having the same issue as everyone else on my iPhone 16 pro max as the second user on a duo account. I read through this entire thread and tried all the solutions with no fix. Seems from what I’ve been reading Spotify support continually suggests the same fix, says their tech team is looking into it, and never does anything to fix the problem.

I don’t know what happened, but my account got logged out of the app on its own. I logged back in, and since then I haven’t had any issues,  the shuffle mode is working perfectly.

 

I don’t know if something was fixed, but in any case, I’m not having any more problems.

Hi, my shuffle doesn’t work either, the button is just greyed out on the playlist main menu and on the ‘now playing’ section and just doesn’t work.

Hello, you can replicate the issue by creating a brand new account and signing up to premium. As soon as a new account goes from free to premium the shuffle button on the playlist stops working entirely. I’ve tried to create multiple new accounts and run in to the same issue every time.
