My Question or Issue
When I open the Spotify app, my music does not load, the app freezes, I am unable to click on any playlist, and if I can click, the loading page is where I am stuck at. I have already cleared cache, and as well as deleted the application, and re-installed. I am also unable to log out of my Spotify. I would appreciate some help on getting this resolved. The application does play music when I am offline, but the second it is connected to the internet, it just stops working.
Hey there @rmathew98,
Thanks for posting this thread in the Community!
Did you notice if this behavior started after something specific such as an app update for example?
It's great that you've already performed some troubleshooting, such as clearing the cache and reinstalling the app, but just to be on the safe side it's worth checking out and following the steps for a clean reinstall in this help article.
Additionally, please try with the following and let us know if anything makes a difference for you:
Appreciate the cooperation and we'll be on the lookout for your response.
I have don’t the above steps. I reinstalled the app again. It worked. But then after a few days nothing loads! The issue comes back. Can’t listen to anything. No internet issues, just everything stops working.
Hey there @rmathew98,
Thanks for your reply and for the info shared.
We'd like to gather some additional info. As mentioned by @Ivelina above, Did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event such as an OS update?
On another note, and just to confirm:
Lastly, do you use a VPN service on your phone? If yes, try disabling it to see if that makes any difference.
Keep us in the loop!
I updated my iPhone to IOS 26.0.1 and my Spotify will not work on my normal home WIFI and states I am offline when I am connected to my WIFI. Meanwhile everything else on my phone, my TV, and my computer works while connected to the same WIFI. I have uninstalled and reinstalled my Spotify app and it is still doing this since upgrading my iPhone IOS. Also, anytime I switch apps, it stops my music from playing which is annoying. I have scoured the internet to find a solution, and nothing suggested has fixed this issue. It is highly annoying. Thanks!
Hey @indianajess34,
Thanks for reaching out.
Can you try restarting your router, forgetting the network in your phone's settings and re-connecting to it?
In regard to the issue where the playback stops when switching apps, make sure that Background app refresh is enabled for the Spotify app and let us know if that helps.
Keep us posted.
I have done all of that. I did not have an issue with any of this until the IOS 26.0.1 update.
thank you,
Hey there @indianajess34,
Thanks for getting back to us.
Would you mind trying with a different internet connection to see if the same happens? You mentioned you've been using Wi-Fi, so we suggest that you try with mobile data now.
If the issue persists, could you ask a friend or a relative to log in to their account on your iPhone to check if they can replicate this behavior?
Lastly, sending us the exact make/model, and Spotify version of your iPhone would come in handy.
We'll be on the lookout for your reply.
Hey @indianajess34,
Thank you for the prompt reply.
Just to confirm - does your son's mobile device operate without issues on the same Wi-Fi and is it an iPhone with the same iOS update as yours?
It's also a good idea to see if your device would work on a different Wi-Fi connection/ a hotspot from a different mobile device.
This way we'll know if the issue is related to the device or the network itself.
Much appreciated! We'll be on the lookout for your response.
yes, my spotify on my device works under another Wifi/hotspot. The ipad with the same update to 26.0.1 - spotify is working with the Wifi that is causing the issues on the phone. So, it seems the issue is with this iphone and spotify app being on wifi. I have deleted it and downloaded it many times and still this issue is persisting. I am not having any issues with any other app i have on my phone.
thanks
Hey @indianajess34,
Thank you for keeping in contact.
To continue investigating this with internal teams, include in your next response the Spotify version you're currently running on your affected device.
Also, and if possible; since we couldn't replicate this from our end, could you record a short video where we can take a better look? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).
We'll be on the lookout.
I am using Spotify version 9.0.86.1354. Link below for video

Hey @indianajess34,
Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info shared, it’s really helpful.
Taking into account that the Spotify app works properly on your iPhone when connected to a different Wi-Fi network and that your iPad works fine with the regular Wi-Fi network, this could be probably related to the network settings and permissions of your iPhone.
So we'd recommend checking the app's local network permissions by following these steps:
This step is important as in recent iOS versions, apps must request permission to access your local network.
If the issue persists, we'd recommend resetting your network settings with the steps mentioned in this article. Keep in mind that this process will reset all your Wi-Fi networks, cellular data settings, and VPN settings to their factory defaults, but will not delete any files, data or accounts on your iPhone.
Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.
Trying to use WiFi with the Spotify App on my iPhone 17 Pro has become a frustrating and enraging experience. When connected to WiFi, the App will not open to the Home screen. When downloading songs to the device, it stops or freezes. When playing songs, it either fails to start or freezes while playing. Simply toggling off the WiFi signal and using a cellular signal will restore everything, and the App works perfectly. If the WiFi is turned back on, the App will sometimes continue as usual, but often freezes or glitches again. This is, obviously, inconvenient.
And before anyone starts blaming the WiFi signal, this happens across multiple WiFi environments - work, home, public - and all other streaming apps work perfectly... YouTube, YouTube TV, Disney+, Netflix, Prime Video, Peacock, Paramount+, Amazon Music, and Apple Music, as well as Zoom and Teams video conferencing. Spotify is the only App that is affected or behaves this way. My house has a 1 Gig fiber optic connection that provides a consistent 900 Mbps WiFi signal. Work has a 500 Mbps WiFi signal. The public networks I often use have 500 to 800 Mbps signals... and every other app works; however, the Spotify mobile app doesn't. And this behavior doesn't happen on my MacBook Pro M4. On the MacBook, Spotify is solid as a rock.
