My Question or Issue
I’ve noticed that swiping up and down the main player to/from the miniplayer seems to be running in 60fps instead of the full 120fps for ProMotion displays. As a result, it looks noticeably choppier than it should. Clicking the “share” button in the bottom right of the player opens up a sheet that is animated in 120fps and looks smoother.
I have deleted, reinstalled the app from the App Store and in TestFlight updating the build released every day with no change to this issue.
Thank You!

Hi there @heymatus,

TestFlight build 871800671 has officially fixed this issue for me! Cannot wait to see it hit the App Store build!
Hey @heymatus,
Thanks for the post.
This issue should be fixed in one of the last updates, as @MattSuda has described here.
Check if there are any pending updates to your iOS and let them install. Note that if you have any type of Battery Saver enabled for Spotify, this might be causing the app to switch framerates, so try disabling Battery Optimization/ Saver.
Keep us posted on how you get on with this.
Hello,
I have updated my Spotify to the latest (running 8.7.8 through TestFlight as of the recording attached).
The problem that the past update fixed was the animation being slow, but this problem is that the animation is choppy for 120hz on my iPhone 13 Pro. On the iPad Pro at 120hz, the animation runs very smoothly. I have attached a 240fps slow-mo video to illustrate the difference between the two devices.
To add, I am running iOS 15.4 Beta 2 on my iPhone 13 Pro. The newest betas of 15.4 fix 3rd party animations being 60fps instead of 120fps on many of my installed third-party apps. Something seems to be off with the iPhone 13 Pro implementation of the animation compared to the iPad Pro which both have a ProMotion display.

still not resolved
Hey @Cotee504,
Thanks for posting in the thread!
If you haven't already, could you make sure that there aren't any pending OS-updates on your device and also that you've given Spotify a clean reinstall with the steps here? Make sure you've also disabled any battery saving options as suggested previously in the thread. As this behavior should've been fixed a while ago, it's worth performing these troubleshooting steps just in case.
If the behavior persists, it'd be helpful if you could share some more details as to what you're experiencing exactly, as well as share your device's make, model, OS-version and the Spotify-version you're running.
In the meantime, we're here if anything else comes up.
This appears to be an OS issue on iPhone models with 120Hz as the Spotify app is still running on 60 hz. Switching to 60 hz on the iPhone 17 pro makes it worse.
Thanks for the quick response @Cotee504.
We've passed this on internally and it would be very helpful if you could send us your iPhone's OS-version and the exact Spotify-version that you're using.
Additionally it'd be great if you could even include a video of the behavior. You can either attach it to your next response via the Insert Video option in the post editor or upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us.
Many thanks!
