Can't logon from work

Can't logon from work

I used to be able to run Spotify in disconnected mode from the office, listening to my cached tracks & playlists. Something changed a few days ago - and now I can log onto Spotify (Win8.1), but only when using my laptop at home. In the office I can't get past the new login prompt.

If I use Login with facebook, I get a new browser window opening, but then nothing.

If I login with username password, I get 'Service is temporarily unavailable, please try again later'.

Any suggested workarounds?

Hey there, welcome to the Spotify Community!

Are you trying to log in via the web player? Or are you using the desktop application? If you're using the web player please download the desktop app and let us know if you're able to log in.

Thanks!

I'm using the desktop app version 1.0.1.1060.gc75ebdfd

Are you able to sign in and use Spotify here: https://play.spotify.com/

Has your work place changed any security settings recently?

I can signin to play.spotify.com, but I can't stream anything 'probably due to network restrictions'.

I can't open the desktop app at work, because it asks me to sign in.  If I disconnect the network - it tells me no network connected.  How am I supposed to use it on a flight now?

Previously I used to be able to load the spotify app and play my cached tracks at work (cached while at home), regardless of internet connectivity.  I don't remember having to login (other than for the first time installing the app).  Why can't I still do this?

I just want to be able to use spotify to play my own local files and cached playlists while at work (in a network that blocks connection).  If Spotify can no longer do this, then I'll need to move onto another service.

Thanks,

A.

I have the same issue. It's weird because at work I can stream Soundcloud, Pandora and Itunes, but with Spotify, no dice.

Hi Meredith,

Any ideas on a possible solution?

Just to update my own thread... 😞

It seems that due to some change either in the software or my company's firewall settings that now on every reboot if I have some internet connectivity (but not to the spotify server) that I am forced to log-in again.  In this case because the spotify server is blocked - I can't log in.

At work that means I need to disable internet (cable & wired); then login to spotify; then select offline; then reconnect to the network, so that I can get on with the day's work.  This is too much of a faff to want to do every day.

It would be a lot better if Spotify simply assumed I was offline and cached my credentials while at work (where the spotify server isn't available).
