My Question or Issue

My aunt offered my husband and I to join her family premium account, and we have enjoyed years of curating playlists, while she foot the bill. She has since come upon hard times and hasn't been able to pay the last bill. We were notified through our accounts and haven't heard from her. I'm trying to navigate our ability to isolate our individual accounts from her existing plan, and move us to our own plan, hopefully not losing all our information in the process.

I'll continue to try and find the proper order of operations for this process, but if anyone has any direct insight, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Hey @Ssempl,

Thanks for coming to the Community.

Your playlists, saved music, etc. are linked to your account and have nothing to do with the subscription itself, since Spotify also offers a Free plan. 🙂

If you'd like to start individual subscriptions, you can "cancel" your membership via the cancellation process for a paid subscription with the difference, that the cancellation of your membership in a Premium Family plan has an instantaneous effect. More info on how to do that can be found here.

This, of course, does not affect the Premium Family plan or your account itself, but only your membership in it.

Lastly, please keep in mind that all members of Premium Family/Duo plans must reside at the same physical address as the plan owner.

Hope this helps!
