How do you add a giftcard to an account managed by google pay subscription?

My Question or Issue

I received a Spotify giftcard and I have an individual premium account, however I keep getting an error when I redeem saying I have a premium account that can't be combined with a premium code...but everything I read the Spotify gift cards should be able to be applied to an individual premium account. The only issue I can think of is that my payment is managed by google. Is there a way for me to add this to my google account to pay for Spotify or add this to cover some months of the payment?

Thanks for reaching out!

If you're currently paying through Google Play, you'll need to cancel your subscription and wait until the account reverts to the free service in order to use any other payment method. It's not possible to add the gift card to Google in any way as they're all meant to be redeemed only in Spotify.
