Is premium required?

When ever I try to play anything on my android phone it says I need a premium subscription. My Windows app still works with out it. How can I continue to use the ad based service on my phone.

Check in the Spotify settings on your phone that "High Quality" streaming option is not chosen. If it's not chosen and you're unable to play music you should reinstall the app: https://support.spotify.com/learn-more/faq/#!/article/reinstallation-of-spotify/
