Issues creating a device password

Since my account was originally created using Facebook credentials, I'm trying to create a device password to log in without it on another device.  For some reason, each time I click on the email, then enter the new device password (I have tried multiple passwords), I get a generic error stating "There was an error setting your password".

I got the same error here. But I can login in spotify with facebook email/password.

Here's the solution:

Log into Facebook, and generate an application password. This should be in
your security settings. Using that to log in, along with my Facebook
email, works fine.
