Missing Inbox

Whoa, I went to share a song and noticed that the sharing inbox function is missing!!! Has this function been removed?  This is one of my favorite parts about Spotify, sending songs to particular friends.  In addition, I've been using it since 2011 when I first joined and enjoy looking back on what me and my friends have sent one another.  Is this feature gone forever?  If so, why???

Hi, and thanks for posting! Unfortunately, yes, the inbox feature has been removed from Spotify due to low overall use combined with the high amount of resources needed to maintain it. Please see here for more info.

this is whack. why wouldn't they just update the feature to make more user friendly so there was more adoption? I already think that spotify is lacking in the ability to share/colaborate with friends, this just makes it worse.

Hi, thanks for the quick response!  I don't think the issue here was really "low overall use", the issue was knowledge that it existed.  This was several of my friends, including my own, favorite feature of Spotify.  I noticed that with each update of Spotify, the inbox became harder and harder to find, and I had to show several new Spotify adaptors where it existed when I sent them songs (after which, they used the feature weekly, if not more).  This is sad to see go, as it really takes Spotify two steps back.

I just noticed my inbox is gone and am very disappointed. So many songs sent over the past 5 years. I've introduced many friends and family to spotify and the only hesitation I give to them is that the social experience needs worked on. This unfortunately makes it even worse as it was one of my favorite features, although I wish it had been a bit more polished. Please bring it back, or something in equivalence.

I definitely can understand the disappointment with this being removed, and I would recommend adding your vote and comments to this idea to support it being re-added in the future. The Spotify team does keep an eye on feedback and will certainly take ideas like this into consideration if they gain enough support.

Absolute crud. Why keep something like Friend Activity but not an inbox, which is the only way to share your music with your friends and have a platform to discuss it on your app? Rubbish. This was the ONLY social function within your app and you get rid of it. Seems like so many of the interface changes Spotify has made has resulted in nothing but making it easier for your team and not for the people who spend $10 a month. I'm guessing the "Library" function you got rid of wasted too much time and resources too?
