Payment Problems

Solved!

Payment Problems

Hello,

We currently pay subscriptions via Paypal but I want to change this to be paid by credit card.  We have 8 accounts in total and when I try to change the payment method an error appears everytime.  I have contacted our credit card issuing bank and they have advised that there is no block on the card etc.  I don't know what to do next.

Thanks

Hello, @lolly85

Thanks for reaching out to the Spotify Community.

There's a few potential reasons for this problem;

  • There's insufficent funds in your bank account to cover the small authorisation charge (typically £1 - automatically refunded) upon billing verification.
  • Your bank is not responding to Spotify's merchant terminal which is used to validate the card in realtime.
  • You've attempted to use the payment card in a suspicious pattern (e.g: the card has been used too much in a 30-day period or is used to activate multiple promotional offers etc.)

As its rare for a household to own 8 accounts, as stated, the issue could be the third potential cause listed above. In this case, please click here to contact Spotify Customer Support who can remove the limit and eliminate any suspicious use of the billing data.

Kind regards,

James

Hi James,

It's for business use and a business card being used so your first 2 points can't be the problem, as I said we have contacted the issueing bank and there is no block on the card.

I will do as advised and contact customer support.

Thanks for your help.

Hello, @lolly85

Thanks for your response.

As a quick reminder, Spotify is only available for non-commercial / personal use. This means that Spotify cannot be used in the following environments:

  • Stores
  • Schools
  • Restaurants
  • Other Public / Commercial Use

Due to this reason, the block placed on the billing information might not be lifted. Attempting to use the same card on 8 sets of accounts, especially for a business, would most definitely trigger a block from using that card. The block can apply to PayPal, mobile phone payments and debit/credit cards.

There is a commercial-version of Spotify, currently only available in Finland, Norway and Sweden. Please click here for further information. I would recommend switching to an alternative streaming service for your business - as you may risk having your Spotify account(s) banned for a direct violation of the Terms and Conditions of Spotify Premium. The rates for using Spotify Music within a business would typically require a higher rate of royalty and is therefore the reason for being personal-use only.

Kind regards,

James

Thnak you for this information.

I was not aware of this as I wasn't the one who originally set it up.

You took money out of my account on July 1st, 2016 and yet my subscription says Free. What is going on??? Very pissed at this and will take further measures if this is not resolved soon. I have logged out and back in. I have spent over 3 hours trying to rectify this problem on my own. It is time you did something for me. Looking forward to hearing from you very soon.
