Is there a way to delete all the music that you have saved on your account and start like new?

Hey @reyes_,

You can't 'reset' your account per se, but you can always manually:

  1. Delete your playlists (command/control-a then backspace/delete)
  2. Delete your songs (command/control-a then backspace/delete)

If you really want a fresh start. you can always ask Spotify to close your current account then create a new account. You won't be able to use the same username though.

Cheers,

Tim

This thread is quite old, so could you describe exactly what you're trying to do and we'll do our best to give more relevant advice ๐Ÿ™‚

Cheers.

Hi, I used a single account for long, shared with my family.

Now I subscribed a family account, so everyone has fresh playlist, suggested songs, ect...

Just my original account is heavily "contaminated" by terrible music choices of my sons...

Can I reset preferences? Or fully reset the account? To obtain a better and more personal use.

Thank you a lot

Francesco

Hey Francesco,

Thanks for posting on the forum!

While we do have this active Community Idea on here, fully resetting your taste profile is not yet a possibility. To have a completely clean sleigh, you'd have to start over with a new account. Should you decide to go down this road, there's a few things to keep in mind:

  • Plan members can join a different plan manager once every 12 months. The 12-month period starts from the first time they switch.
  • Itโ€™s not counted as plan switching if they consecutively rejoin the same plan managers account or, in other words, if anything goes wrong they'd still be able to join your original account's plan.
  • Members can't make a switch in the immediate 48 hours after they've joined a plan even if they're eligible for joining another plan.

With these out of the way, in case you decide to create a new account, you'd only need to cancel your current plan. You can wait out until it reverts to the free tier or you can immediately create the new account and send out invitations to the plan members. Note that they themselves will likely have to revert to the free service before joining the new plan. This Community answer details exactly how this can be done ๐Ÿ™‚

In case you decide to retain your current plan & account, there's some app functions that may come in handy:

  • You can exclude playlists from your taste profile so that the songs inside affect your music taste less. This counts past & present listens.
  • Another option would be to block some of the artists you don't like. To do this, go to an Artist profile > click the 3 dot menu > Don't play this.

Hope you'll find this info helpful! We're here for you in case any further questions come to mind ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ
