Spotify Will not link to Alexa

Spotify Will not link to Alexa

Plan

Premium

Country

Ireland (Tried .ie and .co.uk)

Device

Alexa app, not hardware specific
Operating System

Tried on android, and windows. Edge, Chrome and Brave browser
Uninstalled both Spotify & Alexa apps, Cleared all cache, Called amazon support (Their tech department could not help)
Even with a new phone its not working.

My Question or Issue

I am trying to link spotify to alexa.
I have before used it on an older alexa account, I deleted that amazon account.
Started a new one, But now on the new alexa, it refuses to link.
I get to the final page
layla.amazon.com/api/v1/accountLink/error?mode=helpPage&marketplaceId=xxxxxxxxx

And then I get

Unable to link accounts

We're experiencing an issue while linking your accounts.

Please visit the Account Linking Help page for instructions to attempt linking again.

PLEASE DO NOT FOB THIS OFF TO ALEXA SUPPORT.
I am now positive that the issue is that spotify is already linked to an account and its stuck on a DB somewhere and wont let me connect to this account.
I have unlinked spotify under the app "Apps & Devices"
This does remove it, I then cleared cache and uninstalled both apps.
Then still I try to link them I get error still.

Can spotify do a DB delete of any linked accounts on my premium
An actual backend DB Delete?

I am a software engineer with a UX degree so its not that I am making some dumb dumb mistake and would really appreciate proper help here please.

Hey there @Billy_P,

Thanks for posting on the Community! And kudos for all the info you've included, we appreciate it.

We don't have access to users accounts here on the forum, but we'd love to help you get this sorted.

Just to check, could you try removing the connection directly from the account page (if you haven't already), to see if you notice any difference? To do this, sign in to the account page here > Manage apps. There, you'll see a list of any 3rd party apps linked to our Spotify account.

Make sure to restart the Spotify app once it's done to resync the info, as well as giving the browser where you have your account page open a quick refresh.

Fingers crossed this helps! Let us know how you get on.
