For the past few weeks, I've encountered problems with Spotify resetting my user settings. I've used Spotify on laptop (windows 10) & my phone (iphone 5s) for 2+ years with no issue like this. All of a sudden, it will forget my settings for last.fm or my settings for autoplay/playing similar songs. It's done this a FEW times. I keep putting the settings back as they should be, but after a few days Spotify resets them again.
It's driving me crazy. I want my playlists to loop, I don't want similar songs to play. I disable it, and then it forces me to go back into it and change the settings and put the playlist back on. And I just noticed that, despite the fact I've been listening to music since 10 AM today, it logged me out of last.fm again sometime last night. I pay for premium. Spotify, if you want your users to keep paying for your service you should keep their settings straight...
same problem here, no matter if on my phone or on desktop. settings ALWAYS reset after a while. ALWAYS
Hi folks!
Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.
Sorry for the delayed reply, we've just came across this thread. Just to confirm, are you still experiencing this issue?
@kypreos, could you let us know the exact make/model, operating system and Spotify version of your device? Also, would you mind letting us know if this is only happening on a specific device or on all your devices?
Keep us posted 🙂
I experience this on _all_ my devices. My Mac, my Linux and my Andriod phone, tablet and TV box.
And it's been that way for years now. A pretty much only care about the auto play setting which constantly resets - the other ones I haven't even checked if they do reset.
I cannot tell you which versions I've been using the last few years - I got auto updates on, so you probably know that better than me.
Hi folks,
Thanks for reaching out about this and the info you've provided.
Since Last.fm is a third-party service, we can't guarantee that it will work as expected. We'd recommend reaching out to the support team from Last.fm for more info on why your settings might be resetting.
Regarding the Spotify app resetting Autoplay - this sounds like a corrupted cache issue. Try Logging out everywhere and running a clean reinstall of the app on each device. This will assure that your cache is cleared and that you're running the latest app version.
If after clearing the cache and re-logging on each device, the setting is still not remembered, try using a different account to test if everything works fine with that one.
Hope this helps.
Hi there @samuelvossmusic,
Thank you for your reply in this thread.
Can you perform a clean reinstall of the app? This will make sure there's no old cache files causing this.
It would also be great if you can provide us screenshots and a screen recording so that we can have a closer look directly from your end.
We'll keep an eye out for your reply.
Take care!
I don't believe this is an error. It is an annoying feature trying to force up the stream count for bad music that otherwise wouldn't be listened too.
It would easily be solved by setting the default setting to off rather than on, but they won't do it and repeatedly reset the setting when updating regardless of existing preferences.
I, too, find that spotify keeps resetting my settings. In particular, for me, about quality. I want maximum quality, so I set the audio qualtiy settings to "Very high". But every week or two, it keeps getting resetting them to automatic. Also, as others have noted, the "Autoplay" setting; and for me, also, the notifications settings. I agree with the person who says that this ISN´T actually a bug, but a deliberate design feature. Quite frustrating. Maybe we should go to Youtube music premium?
I swear none of the techs at Spotify know how anything works. Most basic, useless feedback in every single thread.
