My Question or Issue
I have my own spotify account (premium. not family). My son is entering university (and staying at home) and can get the Spotify student discount. How should I proceed to get the discount. Should he get his own account (Student premium) and cancel mine in order to validate the name with the university enrollment? Is there a way to "transfer" Spotify ownership to his name (birthdate + email) so the account can change to the student and keep the playlist?

Hey @redbridge2003 ,
Thanks for reaching out.
He can sign up for Premium Student at https://spotify.com/student, where he can either use an existing account or create a new one.
This guide explains how to transfer playlists, saved music, etc., from one account to another: https://community.spotify.com/t5/FAQs/I-created-a-new-account-Can-I-transfer-my-playlists-saved-musi....
You could also change the data on the existing account so he can use it.
Hope this helps!

Hi there @redbridge2003,
Thanks for the post.
You can do either. You can let your son create his own account, with his personal email, DOB etc. This account will be new and won't have any playlists or content saved to it. Just head over here and follow the instructions.
Or you can just change the subscription on your current account.
In both cases you'd need to verify the discount with SheerID. This is our partner that verifies that the user is actually actively enrolled in an accredited University.
If you want to keep your playlists and get the student discount on your account - open up your Account Page > Available Plans > Premium Student.
Note that if you activate your son's student discount on your account and want to share the account with your son, you won't be able to stream content on two different devices simultaneously. Also if you do decide to go with two accounts, you won't benefit from the discount, as it is only activatable on one personal account, which can't be part of a Family/ Duo plan.

Hope this info helps.
Thanks. It was what I did..... he signs up and use my account. Validated the college requirement and bingo.....
