Hi, I recently tried to cancel my spotify premium subscription, and I was asked to enter my password, which is reasonable enough. When the password I typed was wrong, I was directed to the 'edit profile' page, which supposedly allows you to change your password. However, in order to change your password, you have to type in your existing password, which is a bit ridiculous! There was no button I could press to say 'forgotten your password' or anything to that effect, so it's a bit of a dead-end. If there was a reset email that would work, but there's no link to one, and I'm just going round in circles on the website! This needs to be sorted for me and other users!

Hi ArranM thank you first off for posting your question to the spotify community here.

You can try to just go to spotify.com and then on the home page it says log in.

Once you go to log in there is an option which says forgot password where you can enter your email and reset your password.

The problem was, I was already logged in to spotify.com, as my PC logs me in automatically without having to type a password. For some reason, once you're logged in, it doesn't seem like it gives you the option to reset your password via email. So I had to log out first before I had the option to receive the email.  At no point on the website was I prompted to do this, and only your message gave me the idea that this might work. So thanks again, but surely there should be some change to this system!

I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems with your account and I'm sorry that you wish to cancel your membership. The system asked you for a password because it is a security feature to stop hackers doing evil deeds to your account. 

 

If you have indeed forgot your current password, then please use the contact form to get assistance from Spotify Support. Also note that you should get a no-reply e-mail. Please reply to the email for a faster response.

ArranM I agree with you they need to work on how you access your account once you logged in on the apps.
