"There was a problem setting your password" - device password problem

I'm trying to use spotify on a device but it won't let me set a password. I get the email with the link to set a password, I go to it, enter a password in "Your device password" and "Confirm device password" and then I get a red box that says "There was a problem setting your password." 

I tried generating a password with Facebook, since that's what I use to log in to spotify and what other forum threads recommended, but that didn't work when I entered it on my device. I tried using the Facebook-generated password and entering it on the device password page, also didn't help.

Anyone have any ideas? If this doesn't work I'm just going to cancel my account because otherwise what's the point. Even the website has been fantastically buggy just trying to get to the forum to ask this question.

There has been an issue with device passwords recently, so here are some helpful threads here in the community that can help you in the meantime:

However, in some cases, if you have signed up for Spotify using FB credentials and a device asks you for a password, you don't actually have to set up one. Just log in on the device by enterring your numeric username and Facebook password in the username and password fields.

Every account created with Facebook has a unique numeric username.

To find your numeric password:

1. Log into your Spotify account here
2. Check under Account Overview > Profile
3. Your numeric username is shown under Username

I have the same problem, but using your link under Account Overview->Profile I have absolutely no "Username" field shown.  I go to "Edit Profile" also and it's not there either.

I only see my Email, Date of Birth, Country, and Postal Code.

Can you please help?
