So i have Spotify on my AVR, PC, Android Mobile, but not in my car. Not a big problem, just connect the phone via bluetooth.
Works like a charm, the only downside, the Song/Album/Artist information is not transmited when using the spotify android app. A quick test with the default android player shows that this works perfectly. I see song/album/artist on the car display.
So please, add this functionality to the android app. (to spare you the search implement A2DP/AVRCP 1.3 🙂

Hi guys,
Just had the update to Jellybean 4.3 and this is NOW WORKING on;
Sony Z1
Spotify Android app
to Alpine UTE-72BT head unit via Bluetooth
Congrats and you're now welcome to my £9.99 per month. 😐
Thanks to the AVRCP 1.3 version. 😉
Spotify.....
Not sure if you still want to look at your legacy support as this issue was beyond frustrating and although it works for me now it would be great if you paid some attention to your users that are not able to upgrade to AVRCP 1.3 yet for some reason.

Bump! Get this sorted Spotify, it's a disgrace that your ignoring this problem for so long!!
Galaxy S4 4.3
It was just fine, to listen music in car (with the patched version With avrcp support [from XDA]) but since the latest Android update(4.3) that FIXED version of Spotify doesn't work anymore ... And then I ask me AGAIN and AGAIN... Why I have to pay for something, when nobody supports me, and nobody is listening to my wishes... IT'S JUST A LITTLE CODE WHICH HAS TO BE IMPLEMENTED IN THE ACTUALLY PROGRAM AND THEN ALL BLUETOOTH-SPOTIFY-USERS WOULD BE HAPPY !!! JUST PLEASE DO IT... NOW
Android with stock 4..3+Spotify+2013HondaCRV = no go on album info
iPhone5 with ios 7.0.4+Spotify+2013HondaCRV = no go
Android with stock 4..3+Deezer+2013HondaCRV = no go on album info
Android+Samsung stock music player+2013HondaCRV = 100%
Android+double Twist music player+2013HondaCRV = 100%
I have to agree with most of the above comments. It works with stock Samsung player, it works with iPad but it doesn't work with spotify + Android 4.3 (or any other version either for that matter) + Volvo V70 MY2014. I don' t feel appreciated as a Spotify customer or Anndroid user. Fix it!
Although I like the Spotify Premium service in general, it's lacking certain features I really expect to have been implemented from the start. Bluetooth track ID is one of them. Please, Spotify!
My case: 2013 Honda CRV 2.0 Executive Navi AT Adv ( european version) + stock Galaxy Note 3 with JB 4.3
Stock media player and Double Twist show track info on both monitors without a hassle, but when using Spotify no success It looks like Double Twist or stock media player intercept the control over AVRCP and Spotify can't overcome it |
Spotify user for 1 year... problem known since first day.
Still not solved
GMusic same price and problem solved... uhm... thinking...
So interesting thing this morning...
Put spotify (android 4.4 KitKat Samsung GS4) on through bluetooth in my car (Mercedes Benz C Class 2012) and voila! for the first time... Track information, artist and album info! Was great! That was it though. There was no option to select playlists or anything... But at least it is a start!
If you can, update the app and your OS to KitKat... I think that may have something to do with it.
🙂
Ditto - after upgrading to Kit Kat my Audi MMI also shows the track info - would be great to also see the playlists and tracks within the lists; also would be good to be able to see the image of the artist playing, which the MMI does show when listening to DAB radio stations.
Samsung was using the old 1.0 profile in 4.3, and are instead passing that torch to Android in 4.4, which uses the correct up-to-date profile, which is why people with Kit Kat devices are having success. However, this isn't good enough for a lot of people whose phones will never get the Kit Kat update. Cmon, Spotify, get it together!
I'm using KitKat 4.4.2 / Samsung Galaxy SIII connecting with SMEG Peugeot 208.
Track info is OK but doesn´t show the album art.
Is this possible?
Adding my voice to the chorus. Samsung Galaxy S3 stock player transmits track information to my Audi MMI. Spotify does not.
Please fix this Spotify. It is very frustrating and detracts significantly from the value your product offers.
Samsung Galaxy S5 stock does not send track info to my Pebble! Please Spotify fix it!! It is unbelievable!!
