(Android) Spotify Cutting Out Randomly

(Android) Spotify Cutting Out Randomly

Hey all.

So recently this thing started up where the song I'm listening to will cut out for a split second every now and then, sometimes it does it to a point where a couple seconds of the song is just silent. I noticed that this seems to only happen when my device is on 'sleep mode' (or whatever its called when the screen is off). My device is a Samsung Galaxy S6 and the current android version is 7.0. I've tried a bit with changing a couple of battery settings but it didn't change it. If anyone has any solutions I'd gladly appreciate it. Thank you 🙂

Is your Z2 Force on Android 8.0 or &.7.1?  Mine worked fine until the 8.0 update.  Since then it will occasionally start pausing and skipping when connected via bluetooth in my 2016 Toyota.  Since the update appeared to have gone wrong on my phone given an array of other problems, Verizon shipped me a replacement device and as soon as it updated to 8.0 the Spotify problems started again.  In my case, there usually seems to be a trigger - either an incoming text notification or call near the start of a track, but I havent had enough time to test.  Again in my case, I also appear to have a work around. If I pull down the notifications and go to bluetooth; turn off bluetooth for a couple seconds (long enough to disconnect) and turn it back on; it will then play normally. Force stopping the app, on the other hand, has no effect.

FWIW though, having scanned Google's forums for its own devices, I am afraid this may be an Android 8 problem. Given force stopping Spotify has no effect on the problem but turning off bluetooth does, that also suggests to me it is at the OS level.  BTW, if people want to chime in and say it works fine with Google Play Music, 1) some Nexus and Pixel phones appear to have similar problems with Google's app, and 2) which apps do you think Google tested with the OS anyway, its own or a competitor?

My plan for the moment is to turn on developer settings and see if different bluetooth profiles and/or settings resolve the problem.  There are some options on that front on the Z2 Force.  Beyond that I will also test (for a day) to see if turning off notifiations has any effect. Since they will still trigger my Gear Sport watch to vibrate, I can try that without missing anything. Last but not least, I may also download the apk from an earlier version of Spotify and turn off auto updates in the Google Play Store just to see if it is a recent app issue. My bet is it is not but it is easy enogh to check.  Otherwise, annoying though it may be, I will keep switching bluetooth off and on as long as that continues to resolve the problem.

Noticed this post was getting traction again so I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in. The update that I thought fixed it didn't and about a week later it started again. From what I've gathered the only fix I know of is to restart the phone everytime the issue starts. It's not a permanent solution but seems to give a few days before it starts again. Not sure if this will work on phones other than the S6 but it's currently the only fix I have found so far.

I Am having same problem with an Ihpne and don’t know what to do. Someone please help

Having same problems on Samsung galaxy s8+ and sometime on PC version. Seriously why paying for such bad experience? We better get back to downloading mp3... Maybe Apple music? Google music? This bugs are so FRUSTRATING... COME On we just love music but this kind off kills everything!

Any correlation with the fact of storing Spotify files on SD card?
