My Question or Issue

When connecting Spotify to a speaker with built-in "Spotify Connect" and built-in "Chromecast" you can switch between these two modes". When using "Chromecast" the volumesteps are "+1" or "-1" when hitting the volume-buttons. When using "Spotify Connect" the steps vary from 2-3 each time when you hit the buttons wich are much to big and the volume tends to be too highh or too low.

Yes, I did a clean install, cleared all caches, restarted router, phone, speaker.

Hey everyone,

Thank you for the reports!

We've passed your comments to our tech folks so they can have another look into this. To aid us in the investigation, could you share the following info, if you haven't already:

  • The devices you're using, including make, model, OS and firmware version.
  • The exact version of Spotify you're running
  • Does this happen over Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or both?
  • Does changing the audio quality (for example from Lossless to Very high, or vice-versa) have any effect?

In the meantime, make sure to keep the app updated so you don't miss a thing.

Take care.

The solution is very simple. Spotify just has to make a setting in Spotify for the desired Spotify Connect volume steps. How hard can it be Spotify? For example the Musiccast app that comes with my Yamaha receiver, uses steps of 0.5 while using Spotify Connect.

Samsung also has the Sound Assist app, where you can define the volume steps, but this only works with Bluetooth.

So Spotify, just fix it and give the option to define the volume steps in the Spotify app.

To adjust the Spotify volume on a Samsung soundbar with a step size of 1 with your phones volume buttons, you have to switch to the Samsung Smartthings app. With that app in front, the volume adjust with a step size of 1 as it should be. I have tested this work around on Android S23 ultra.

Here in the Samsung Smartthings app the volume step size is 1 on my Samsung soundbar when you press the volume buttons on the phone. Spotify development team please fix the volume step size issue when casting audio to external speakers.

The thing is we want to use volume control in the Spotify app. But Spotify Connect and volume control in the Spotify app, always results in too large volume steps.

So Spotify, why don't you just fix this?

It is just a basic setting, Spotify needs to handle this! There are so many complaints and so many other apps which do this well.

If an old version of Spotify has this right than you can certainly fix this. Please show some support for your paying customers!

True, it's a very very simple setting. For example the Sonos and Yamaha/Musiccast apps are working just fine with perfect volume steps...

Agreed, this is super annoying and needs to be fixed !

They won't unfortunately. But maybe a clever developer on this forum here can fix it?

Apparently, Spotify devs are way too busy to even spend five seconds asking their AI agent to 'set volume steps to 1.' It’s pathetic that we’ve reached a point where we can't even expect the simplest hotfixes for such basic functionality.

Totally true. But even before AI they were useless, at least, the management is. Spotify doesn't care about input, only about your money.

Talked to spotify. Its sent to the tech People. I explaint Several employees about the version 9.0.56.591 being oke and after not....
