Annoying snow effect

ho folks

Just noticed this snowing effect in Spotify and find it very annoying. Tried to find the checkbox in the settings.

Can someone point me to where one can disable this?

Spotify first had the snowflakes in the iPhone app back in 2011 as a way to add something cool for the holidays.

It seems they have brought it back this year. At the moment it appears to be Android only.

It usually lasts the whole week of Christmas, and then it will go away.

Thank God the snow is gone. Straight up the most annoying effect that's been pushed in the history of forced effects ever. They say life is a learning experience, so learn Spotify. And don't ever force that on me again. I like snow. But only even it's 500 miles away from me. Not annoying tiny little dots that distract from what I'm looking at. I just spent the last few days avoiding the now playing page as much as possible. And when I had to go into a sense of instant annoyance took over. Next time, let me decide if I want ocd dots all over my device

Hey @lugi

Could you get back to me with a screenshot of this? We'll go from there!

That one. It's nice to look at once but after that I'd like to have a way to disable it. I like cover artwork and that effect is... Not enhancing it.

Ah! I'll definitely pass on your feedback regarding this. It's most definitely temporary however - it's just for the run up to Christmas 🙂

Is there a reason Spotify keeps forcing these changes without the option of a simple checkbox to decide if we want these features at all?!(Spotify Connect is another prime example)

It's the whole reason I don't update the Spotify app, however I couldn't avoid it once I got force closes.

Spotify be taking marketing tips from U2.

Spotify better work on their off line continuity for premium users first before fiddling around with non-functional snow-effects..

Don't forget: Premium users have to be on line to listen to music off line.

I don't care if it's just for the run up to Christmas - I don't want it, and I want to disable it..
If you like to do such stuff, okay - but give us the ability to disable it.
It eats resources and it's annoying.

Let me tell you: If you keep forcing such stuff on me, I'll be looking for a new service soon.

f***king annoying.

fun for the first couple of minutes ONLY!!!

just let users disable it, or ask for permission

Hey guys,

I haven't tested this, so I can't confirm if this works or not. You might want to try to temporary change the date of your Android device to somewhere after christmas/new year.

Also be sure to keep posting your feedback here and keep an eye on this thread!

This s*** they have time for.

My three-years-and-running request to fix a G D bug with LIKED FROM RADIO not recognizing duplicates and previously liked/unliked tracks?

Not so much, despite REPEATED assurances.

DEVELOPERS - UNDERSTAND YOUR PAYING CUSTOMERS FEEDBACK.

I think the last two updates have been laughably bad.

Great update... Hands Up tracks looking great....

I'm, I'm... the night!

hope you're kidding... i won't touch the date settings of my device just because spotify decides to 'let it snow' - thats propably what the management/devs did when they decided to add this effect.. Not that they just added it, no.. its on-top of all other UI elements. Great!

Just a sidenote: changing your date will screw up all authentifications, even https connections.. so stay away from that.

Cheers.

Constructive feedback: what about those of us in the southern hemisphere?.... or better yet what percentage of the world actually receives snowfall? Are we celebrating winter or Christmas/(C)hannukah/Kwanza? If the former, why shouldn't this be year-round for all parts of the world? Is this setting for only those that are in the U.S.? If, so, then I'm going to punch a baby all the way through mid-late March.

Just trying to understand the rationale behind adding a feature that is distracting/irritating/makes-me-want-to-cancel. No threats, just my feelings. Please don't make me cry if we are still "celebrating the holidays" with same effect through Easter.

All-in-all the effect is grossly assuming I actually care what calendar month we are in or that I "celebrate" anything during this time.

Give me a checkbox that signifies "Celebration Mode," or better yet, "Scrooge Mode" to allay and undermine my crass, arrogant sarcasm.

Get rid of this crap already.

I was just giving Spotify another try from Google All Access.  This snowy background BS has thrown me right back to All Access.  As a large developer, I'd think you'd know to give someone an option before you add animated effects.

Just heard that Facebook also did this kind of thing with profile pictures. It's christmas now, I expect that the snow will be gone within a few days.
