My Question or Issue

When casting to my Google Home devices, Spotify will not play tracks from my Metal Mix playlist when selected. While casting, the playlist will only start playing when the first track is selected or when the green "Play" button at the top is used. Once playback starts, the queued tracks do not reflect the tracks on the playlist (yes, shuffle is off ), and trying to select any tracks from the playlist that aren't on this bugged queue does nothing when I would expect that track to just play.

This issue occurs only when casting and only with this specific mix.

Actions taken:

- Forced close app (no effect)

- Restarted all devices (no effect)

- Cleared app cache and storage (no effect)

- Uninstalled and clean-reinstalled app (no effect)

Posting just to record this outrageous bug, but I'm not optimistic: Spotify has an absolutely terrible record of addressing UX issues like this. Tempted to move to YouTube music after years of awful app performance and complete disinterest in customer experience from Spotify, exemplified by the fact that I'm having to ask for help from unpaid superfans rather than an actual support team.

Hi there @Creepy_D,

Thanks for reaching out!

It's really odd that this happens only with this specific Metal Mix, so it might be worth logging in your account on a different device (you can ask a friend or a relative for their phone, for example) just to see if you get the same behavior there.

A different network is also a good idea, you can ask someone to start a hotspot so you can test this out. I'd also recommend checking if switching the network frequency to 2.4 GHz / 5 GHz as well as changing the broadcast channel in your router's settings would help. Another thing you can give a try is disabling DHCP and altering the DNS to one of the public DNS' listed below (if possible, do this for your Google Home devices as well):

  • 8.8.8.8
  • 8.8.4.4
  • 9.9.9.9
  • 1.1.1.1

Keep us posted.
