Chromecast volume control while Spotify is running in background - GONE!!

For a copule of days now I haven't been able to control the volume of Spotify on Chromecast while the app is in the background. It only works while the app is in the foreground. This has always worked until now. I'm still able to use the volume control in all other Chromecast apps that I use, while they are in the background. 

But when Spotify is running in the backgorund there is no Chromecast volume control avaliable anymore. 

This is really annoying since changing the volume has been possible til no, even when the screen has been locked.

Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I have exactly the samen problem since a couple of dans. If anyone has the sollution, that would be great! I'm on a galaxy s6.

Yes, I'm experiencing the exact same thing on a Oneplus 3. For now I have no idea how you could fix it.

I just downloaded an older version from apk mirror. I'm gonna try every new
version but if it doesn't fix the problem I'm going back to the old version
again. It's obviously a bug I'm the newest version, cos I can't believe
they would intentionally remove this feature since it's a good one.

Pandora over Chromecast volume works just fine when in the background.

Reverting back to an older version fixed it temporarily for me. But it's annoying not to be able to update the app.

Yes, I have had the same issue on my pixel for the past week or so. Really miss this feature! Spotify has also been disconnecting from Chromecast a lot since this last update. I usually have to restart the app to get it to connect again.

edit: switched from Spotify Music 7.5.0.1076 (problem) to Spotify Music 7.4.0.1799 (no problem).

everything is working as expected again.

Same problem here (Netherlands). No idea if this is related to upgrade...?
Might be an idea recruiting software quality and process managers to avoid this kind of deficiencies.

I have the same problem. It's nearly 100 % percent a Spotify bug introduced in one of the newer versions.

it's not a bug, it's a feature they dropped, for whatever reason.

Well since it's a feature in all other apps that I use with Chromecast I
hardly think it's a feature they've dropped. I am not an expert but I kind
of think that background control of the volume when you are casting kind of
comes with the deal.

Switching to 7.4.0.1799 also worked for me. This cannot be a permanent solution and I expect that it is a bug and will be resolved in new updates because it is a key aspect of casting spotify.
