My Question or Issue
Hello,
For 2 weeks, i often have trouble with the songs queue. Playlist is added twice in the queue, or songs from the previous session remains in the queue and won't let me play something else until I delete them. When I just want to add ONE podcast to the queue, between musics, it would play the next podcasts of the author instead of the queue...
Where is the Clear Queue button in the queue ? I can't see it anymore, is there any other way to clear the queue than cleaning the cache ? (Easier options than cleaning the cache every damn time...)

Hey everyone! I'm not a spotify moderator, but hopefully this post will help. Essentially, what is happening is that you should see something that is under "Now playing" (the song you are currently listening to). After that, you might see either the phrase "Next in queue" or "Next up". To be completely clear, these are two different things. "Next in queue" is whatever song, playlist, album, podcast, etc that you clicked on and clicked "Add to queue" and is prioritized over "Next up", therefore if you simply add in your thing into the queue and suddenly want to move to a different thing without eventually returning to your original thing, you can click the "Clear queue" button to the right of "Next in queue" to clear it completely, then add into queue what you wish to listen to and hit play. If what you want to listen to is under the "Next up" section, then there is no need to add it to the queue. The "Next up" section is where all of your songs that you've listened to already start to accumulate, along with spotify recommendations if you have that on. Think of it as a playlist full of old/recommended music. There is no clear all button for the "Next up", but you can try to log out/close spotify, perhaps it might clear it automatically.
Hope this helps!
Hey I used to have the "clear queue" button but its gone! Where is it? I've used it before. But its not on the desktop or mobile
Hi Susan,
as Spotify is mainly a music app, it is absolutely annoying to queue songs between sessions.
When a new session is started you are not in the mood of the last session - I hate this feature.
Can you either provide an option to "clear queue between sessions" or have a cron job to delete queues overnight.
Thx,
Peter
Tried to offer this feedback as requested after pressing "NO" - nope this info was NOT useful. But apparently even the feedback does not work! "Unknown error"... that is so... "spotify'. So here is my feedback, here instead: The "clear queue" button is missing! You always change the interface on all platforms, it is always inconsistent even from user to user and 90% of your documentation (in fact, random online info) is terrible and utterly useless! you keep moving and removing options and features and 90% of the time, when a user is looking for something (some functionality) not only they don't find it (as it was removed) but also the online help never matches the real interface (in fact -- what help? -- it's just a community forum! Spotify does NOT offer help apparently!)
I’m a long-time Premium subscriber and multi-genre listener. Recent mobile app updates removed the ability to clear the playback queue, which has significantly degraded the listening experience.
Previously, users could intentionally reset the queue and start a new listening session. Now, Spotify auto-injects “Recommended tracks” that cannot be cleared in bulk. This creates several problems:
• Breaks intent-based listening — I often switch genres based on mood or context (e.g., classical in the morning, hip-hop later, jazz in the evening). Having prior genres forced into the queue makes listening chaotic rather than curated.
• Forces algorithmic recommendations over user control — even when Autoplay is disabled, the queue remains polluted unless overridden by starting new playback.
• Creates a driving safety issue — when listening in the car (including CarPlay), unexpected tracks from past listening sessions begin playing after selections end. This is distracting and requires additional interaction while driving to correct.
• This is a regression — the functionality to clear the queue existed and was removed without an equivalent replacement.
Autoplay recommendations can be a useful feature when they are optional and context-aware, but users should retain full control over their playback queue.
Requested fixes (any would resolve this):
• Restore a “Clear Queue” option on mobile
• Allow full disabling of recommendation injection into the queue
• Separate user-queued content from algorithmic recommendations
Spotify works best when it supports intentional listening, not when it overrides it.
