Is there anyway to disable spotify from having my Microsoft Sync in my Ford from being solely controlled through the car? It's entirely bothersome to try and navigate through my car to get to a different artist or playlist when I could just do it easily through my phone.
On my end, my mustang has no nav, and I cannot find any way to disable Sync from completely controlling my phone's spotify app. All it shows is the spotify logo with an arrow to a Ford logo. Super annoying.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Anyone from Spotify actually going to chime in? I'll give this a week. After that I am unsubscribing and going to google play.
Same problem on my Mustang -started a few days ago. Really annoying - app is unusable now. Spotify needs to roll back these changes ASAP.
In addition to the "solution" that says to change the Sync's Bluetooth name, go to your phone's Settings, Bluetooth, then click the icon next to SYNC (mine was a gear icon), and you can change the name of Sync's Bluetooth. I'll be testing this later to see if this does actually fix it.
But otherwise, this was a poorly integrated feature on Spotify's part. Been a premium user for 3 years, as long as I've had my Ford vehicle. This was never an issue, and the Spotify dev team should have given users in-app Release Notes or the ability to turn on/off this feature.
I can guarantee, the less tech-savvy people- the ones that wouldn't ever check this forum- will be cancelling their subscription. And I wouldn't blame them, this is very frsutrating. And if the rename doesn't fix this, and there isn't a fix in the near future, I'll also be switching over to Google Play.
I'll try the solution and hope it'll work, because, guess it, it's annoying and gives me hell!
Maybe the developers didn't have to deal with the sync control otherwise they would've dumped their code immediately 🙂
Change it back or provide an option to disable this "feature".
Thanks in advance
I didn't see any option to rename a bluetooth device on my Mustang. Even if it did work it isn't a "solution". The workaround I found is to close/reopen the app once or twice after you're already synced via bluetooth. It's a crappy workaround, but at least I choose music to play in my car...
Is anybody from Spotify going to reply? The app is unusable with Ford vehicles.
To be fair, the update is amazing if you have the 8" touchscreen. I am guessing everyone complaining has the small 4" display with no touch?
Mine has touch but it doesn't allow you to control anything in spotify... so it's useless.
Yes this change make spotify just unusable on my f150 2015. My only alternative its just to select a list on sptotify even before I turn on my truck, because one it is connected to Sync, I can't change anything even if I end the application and I start it again. The screen on my truck it's to small and even any list apper on it.
It's just ridiculous !
Provide the application with something to disable the full cotrol to the car .
Changing the name did nothing, unfortunately.
Sometimes after force closing the app it keeps working like it used to. I'd say 1 in 50 times....
Also tried to revert to the non-beta version of spotify but even the app in the android playstore is infected with this behaviour.
This would be a stupid safety thing. Sure, the driver can't change the song. But so can't any of the passengers.
Did anyone else try to disable applink in the car itself? I tried it but I don't think it does anything...
THIS IS NOT SOLVED. SHOULD NOT BE MARKED AS A SOLVED ISSUE!
Is there going to be a god darn answer from spotify???? Answer our darn questions you <snip>
