Is there anyway to disable spotify from having my Microsoft Sync in my Ford from being solely controlled through the car? It's entirely bothersome to try and navigate through my car to get to a different artist or playlist when I could just do it easily through my phone.
On my end, my mustang has no nav, and I cannot find any way to disable Sync from completely controlling my phone's spotify app. All it shows is the spotify logo with an arrow to a Ford logo. Super annoying.
Solved! Go to Solution.
My wife now finds Spotify unusable in her Ford Focus. Voice commands are not understood. I will drop my Spotify family account and go to another music service if this isn't fixed immediately.
I am in the same boat.
This needs to be fixed ASAP. Under no circumstances should Spotify FORCE AppLink if it is a) disabled within Sync itself or b) not selected as the Source, i.e. BTA is selected instead.
I mean it has been like that for several years now with no issue to really speak of.
This is no safety feature. This seems like a money grab by spotify. Likely they got paid off by Ford to make this change to the app.
Finally recieved some feedback everyone:
"Hello there,
Thanks for getting in touch with us and for your Feedback regarding Ford Sync.
We know how frustrating this is and we apologize for the inconvenience caused. We’re currently looking into this and we will get back to you once we have some more information. We're always looking to improve Spotify in any way we can.
We can’t say now if or when any specific release will be out, but as soon as we've got something to announce, we'll let everyone know on the Spotify blog.
In the meantime, let us know if there’s anything else we can help with."
So they've heard us everyone. We just need to give them time to fix their mistakes.
That's what they told me when I *tried* to use the Spotify App and it wouldn't download all of my artists and/or albums over BT. Still hasn't been fixed.
This one should be a lot easier to fix though since it is so obviously broken.
To the escalation engineer: The problem is when the Source is BTA, AppLink is still engaged, i.e. the Ford/Spotify logo appears and you are locked out of using the Spotify mobile app on the phone but instead have to use the clumsy Sync interface instead. AppLink should only be engaged if the Source is selected as "Spotify" AND IF Mobile Apps are enabled on the Sync side.
The change in the new update severely limits my ability to use Spotify while connected to MS Sync in my vehicle.
Please roll this change back.

I'm not sure they've heard us. Sounds like a generic answer but hey, It's a start!
Let's hope they roll it back soon
I can't even use this app on my phone now. And no replies from Spotify that i can see. This must be the end
I don't see anything on the Spotify Blog saying they were going to break the app by changing its behavior with Ford sync. So they apparently feel they can make random changes to the app at a whim, and decide what they will or won't communicate.
That was a form email. I don't take it as any indication they have heard anything.
This is unnecessary. My phone is mounted to the dash, inches away from the vechicle controlls. It is no more distracting, to push a button on my phone, than it would be to push the buttons on the dash.
What about when I'm at a stoplight, safely stopped, car not in motion, and I want to change playlists/songs? Seems like a reasonably safe thing for me to do.
As for the passenger 'solution,' I'm not about to go through the hassle of logging into my Spotify account on a separate device. Wouldn't the car regonize it as the primary device and disable the app anyway?
This is idiotic.
This is bull**bleep**. Disable this thing or I'm migrating to a better horizons together with my family plan.
And no, I'm not gonna do any "home fix" to solve anything that you broke on purpose.
I've been away from my truck for an hour and the applink screen is still showing there is no way this is working as intended and if it is intentions need to be changed or I'm unsubscribing
This is the most pathetic logic I've ever seen. The replies from Spotify aren't helping either. They are basically saying "We know what you want better than you know what you want."
I'll gladly go to a competitor. I'm not going to pay $10 a month for an app on MY phone that won't let me use it the way I want in MY car. I'd be stupid to keep that.
It sucks because I have a playlist with all my favorite songs, but I'm not staying with Spotify if this isn't fixed by the time my subscription cancels.
I don't know who uptodown is, life has taught us not to install software from strangers..right?
**bleep**. I can't believe that message.
...as intended'!?
who would purposely give control of their entire product to Ford...to FORD??!?
