Is there anyway to disable spotify from having my Microsoft Sync in my Ford from being solely controlled through the car? It's entirely bothersome to try and navigate through my car to get to a different artist or playlist when I could just do it easily through my phone.
On my end, my mustang has no nav, and I cannot find any way to disable Sync from completely controlling my phone's spotify app. All it shows is the spotify logo with an arrow to a Ford logo. Super annoying.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Are my wife and children less important? Why do you not lock out Chrystler radios?
I have a better idea:
Apple and others are creating car radios and interfaces. Sync has received little attention because users have found it generally difficult and sometimes completely impossible to navigate.
Ford wants to increase usage by paying cash/development costs to have app makers force Sync as an interface. Hoping that users will get comfortable with it, or minimizing its liability by locking out phone interfaces - regardless of the seat the person is controlling from.
Did ford give you any benefit for disabling your app inside of ford cars?
Bye bye Spotify. I assume you don't care since Ford is probably paying you more than I am to force the use of Appsync, even for the older cars with the text screens that just flay don't work with this.
This is such Bull**bleep**. It's not about safety. What about people that plug their phone into the aux jack of their car? What about people that sync with cars other than Ford, or with third party bluetooth devices in their cars?
This is a money grab.
Bye
Please allow disable. I can't even change a playlist or scroll through for a song now... I used to be able to use my phone (when pulled over) and change to whatever I wanted.
Now even after I leave the truck and have shut it off spotify is still stuck on Ford Sync
Just wanted to add one more voice to the discussion about how annoying this is. It literally breaks my usage of the app. Half the time, playlists or artists or any other feature just doesn't work. It will say "loading" and never load.
Even when it works, it's inferior in every way and is incredibly clunky and difficult to use. Voice activated features barely work and rarely recognize what I'm saying.
Disabling it or using it in tandem with the actual UI for the app would be fine. I'll give it a little bit of time before I leave Spotify entirely.
Same issue for me! So frustrated that you can't do anything!!
It's a PITA that we have to downgrade the app, but it worked for me 100%.
Go here: https://spotify.en.uptodown.com/android/old and get an older version. I got 4.9 just to be sure I didn't have to deal with this again and I can now control my spotify from the phone while in my mustang again.
Make sure you go into the play store and uncheck "auto update" or the next time you connect to wifi while plugged in, your app will revert back to the newest version.
Once again, this safety feature is not permitting any safe behaviors. The generic response of it being implemented as a saftey feature goes to show how poor their QA/QC is within their testing phases.
If you have a passenger that connects to bluetooth, how do they have to control the music? Spotify has lost my subscription.
As others mentioned, why is it only limited to Fords? Why did it take so long for Spotify to incoporate this poor safety feature when Sync and applink has been around for some time. Instead of responding with "it's a safety feature", just admit that this update was pushed out without and reviewing factors involved. Spotify, you suck.
Can Spoitfy please let us know what is your intention? Is it supposed to be like this where you always see the AppLink screen even if Apps are disabled OR are engineeers investigating the issue and will come up with a fix?
I'd like some response here from Spoitfy support.
Anyone know the latest version that does NOT include Ford Sync? 4.9 was mentioned as being viable, but it seems like this just happened.
4.9 is what you want. I am running it now and I have no issues to report.
Thank you. After I posted, figured I'd just try a couple. 5.4.0.585 works, 5.5.0.653 was the first release that prompts Ford Sync.
Yep this is absolute **bleep**. I hate not being able to easily see all my playlist. I am canceling my premium subscription. If Spotify decides to fix this issue I will gladly come back. As for now though im off to google play so I can actually have other people in the car choose music on a road trip. Not try to find it through a craptastic scroll menu. Thanks for ruining the best music app that ever exsited. Fix it please.
