Is there anyway to disable spotify from having my Microsoft Sync in my Ford from being solely controlled through the car? It's entirely bothersome to try and navigate through my car to get to a different artist or playlist when I could just do it easily through my phone.
On my end, my mustang has no nav, and I cannot find any way to disable Sync from completely controlling my phone's spotify app. All it shows is the spotify logo with an arrow to a Ford logo. Super annoying.
Solved! Go to Solution.
I had Google Play Music for a short time. It was a great service- YouTube working in the background on my phone while I text was a nice perk. The problem for me was when I was hooked up to Ford Sync via bluetooth, the car's controls did nt work very seemlessly with the app itself (songs would skip 5-10 seconds after I'd pressed the skip button on my wheel).
However, that was over two years ago- it probably works better with Sync by this point. And, better than Spotify does, at this point 😉
Buh-dum-tss
If this was a Safety feature, then please elaborate on a passenger using spotify not having controls. For my car they now have to reach over my shifter, which my car is a manual, and that in itself is much more dangerous than having FULL CONTROL ON YOUR PHONE. Even when I do manage to find how to find my playlist, I am completely distracted from the road and have to wait until i'm stopped to navigate with the super unintuitive menus through my car.
I USED to like spotify until this has happened. How many millions of $$ do they make a month? I'm sure they could have implemented a button to disable this **bleep** app link through their app. Shows you how much they care for their customers.
Also, GOING BACK TO AN OLDER VERSION IS NOT THE SOLUTION.
If no agreement gets done in one week I will cancel my subscription as a premium user since I use it a lot while driving, so, you made something useful, useless. This has no sense at all, how would you expect to me to use voice command when the technology from SYNC doesn't even work OK... I can't select what I want to hear, how do you call that a PREMIUM service? I think you are missing the point by forcing the user to do nothing but hit play, it's completely dumb.
And like someone said, this shouldn't be marked as SOLVED? come one people, I think I shouldn't have paid for subscription, instead, I should have keep downloading music from P2P.
This bug is really annoying.
If I want to change the playlist I have to use my dashboard controls, which takes my eyes from the road.
I can't even use the controles on my wheel. This is not logical and very unsafe.
I really like Spotify and I'm a long term premium user. This should be solved accordingly.
If this isn't solved quick I will have to look for another service.
Having the same issue. While I will admit that the SYNC end is pretty powerful it still limits what I am able to do with my music immensly and its incredibly frustrated. Also I have opened the app at home and at work and for what ever reason it booted showing the worthless Ford SYNC Spotify page. So for what ever reason my phone thinks its connected to SYNC, even when im not in the car making the app completly useless (see attached photo). In complete frustration I have stopped using spotify and have resorted to other apps for audio even though I am paying for this service.
I think that this needs to be addressed quickly allowing the user to toggle SYNC on and off.
This is one of the worst answers that I've ever read. It's completely illogical. The moderators don't have any idea what we are talking about. Spotify on android with any version of ford sync is just unusable, it's full of bugs and the ford sync never sync anything, you are lucky if you can listen the previous song that you were playing before turn on the car.
I hate when people owners of the app talk like Mr. know it all, when they do not have any idea how to solve the problem.
This answer you edited is still bull**bleep** chris.
I am supposed to share my password for spotify with other people? My carpool partners should be given my private credentials?
I canceled my subscription because of this but, Spotify probably doesn't care much considering there wasn’t even a place to leave comments regarding why I canceled. I don’t need someone telling me what buttons I should use when my phone is literally inches from my vehicle controls. Your voice commands work about half of the time and Sync does not load playlists properly, not to mention, that the app gets hung up on the logo screen long after you leave your vehicle. The Spotify service is pretty much useless now. Hope my 1 star rating on the app store gets their attention but probably not. I’ve been waiting to get a reply from my support email I submitted 2 days ago.
Did someone say they could transfer Spotify Playlists to Google Music?
I honestly think all this cancellation rhetoric is a bit extreme since they've had a day or so to look into this issue.
Even if they fix it today, it still takes a testing cycle to approve, then it needs to get on a release vehicle, build, upload to the play store, etc. etc.
I firmly believe Spotify will indeed fix this - there is no way AppLink should be on when mobile apps are disabled. That is just a bug plain and simple. Until I hear Spotify OFFICIALLY say that are not fixing this, I have faith they will do the right thing.
Read the reply from chris. he says that this is how they intended it to be and the only fix required is the ford sync screen not going away when you disconnect. By that statement alone he is saying that we are required to have the lock screen and that is not an issue in the eyes of Spotify.
I think Chris doesn't understand the problem fully. Also, other support folks said engineering is looking into it.
I will say this: I am very surprised something like this get past QA.
If this is truly the way the applicaiton will work going forward then I too will be cancelling my subscription because as many, many folks have said - the service becomes unusable.
I hope you're right pisymbol. It would be nice to hear from Chris so we know that he's at least listening.
People are upset because they already said it's not a bug, here and directly via tweet, and that its intended for safety reasons. I think that is why people are talking about cancelling.
Although, to be fair, I tweeted them again yesterday asking them if they had reconsidered, and they said that there was no news, as opposed to saying again that it was intended. So I guess that's something?
Chris,
Just to be clear the lock screen, with Spotify and Ford logos, shows up even if you're not using Ford Applink. I have Applink dissabled in my vehicle because it does not work well. I understand that the app will lock when using the Ford Spotify Mobile App. This is happening when Applink is not or should not be connected. Does that make sense? A little feedback would be nice.
