Editing playlist order on spotify mobile (Android)

Solved!

Editing playlist order on spotify mobile (Android)

Why doesn't spotify support manually changing the order of playlists on the mobile version?

Is there some kind of technical hurdle to work around or are Spotify just not listening to the people that are asking for it?

Think it would be great if you could edit playlist on Android device! Hope you fix this soon!

It crazy that this isn't available on mobile. At the very least, Spotify, change the default playlist order so that newly added tracks are at the top, not the bottom. Like most people I want to listen to my new music, not stuff that I've had on my playlist for years. Its ridiculous.

Any chance of an answer from the company?

FIRST OF ALL: THIS TOPIC IS NOT SOLVED!!!!! Installing 3rd party applications is the failure of the Spotify team! That's right! It's yours failure and, what is more, noone is trying to handle that problem. It's a major glitch that android users need to use desktop version to do something so basic as playlist ordering...

The only solution I came up with is to constantle decrease rating of this app in the android play store. Lets's all do that, maybe they will rething their approach!

Calm down - only someone who has posted an issue can mark another post as a solution and, presumably, they felt it solved their problem. There's no conspiracy to see here.

Make sure to keep posting in this Ideas thread too.

No kidding. And what I want to know is who in the world orders their
playlist alphebetically by artist? I created this post such a long time
ago and haven't received a reply from the company yet, so I'm not holding
my breath.

Same problem here. I can't get the songs in my playlist ordered by date correctly in my Nexus 5X. Owner of a family account.

I think this is 100% urgent. I am not using spotify in the phone because of this. I just use spotify on the phone when i'm driving or training and i can't look for every song i want to hear. I just want to hear the last songs added to my playlist.

Spotify ACT NOW.

This is not about alphabetical playlist orders, this is aboutbuserbapecfic playlist order

This seems like a pretty glaring oversight. Looks like Spotify need some more meticulous coders

Why have the Apple coder of Spotify be able to sort manual ordering of ones playlist but the Android coder not.
It's a basic feature that should be mandatory.

Please fix this.

Really, Spotify?  As a premium user this is such a basic function and I can't do it on Android?  Really, really dumb and is really THE reason I signed up for premium- to be able to listen to the tracks I want in a particular order.  If you can't deliver that on my mobile platform, there is NO REASON for me to pay.  People have been asking for this for years.  Get off your butts.

I was very surprised to see that this basic functionality was missing from the android app.  But I was dumbfounded to learn that it has been in the iOS app for years!  How lazy can a vendor be?

I've been using spotify for over a year now, but only on PC so I didn't see the problem. Now when I started running more and completely switching to my android phone I noticed this missing feature. It's unthinkable. I see this topic is like 3 years old. How is it still not solved? I thought I was dumb for not finding that. That's a huge, huge red flag for Spotify. The ignorance that Spotify is showing is ridiculous. I think I will be cancelling my subscription because that's the only way they can learn.

I have started free trial of Google Play Music for this reason - you can do it in the app and web player, neither of which you can do with Spotify.  Since I'm now using a Chromebook and have an Android phone, I've no way to reorder playlists with Spotify. The 90 day clock is ticking for me - I prefer Spotify in most ways and would rather stay but as a premium subscriber this seems a ridiculous situation...

Hi Matte Patte,
sad to read that Spotify is still not caring about its android customers. I asked the same question several times ago. No respond. It's just ridiculous: I pay the same apple customers have to, but they get the better service. This feature is mandatory for a serious music service!!

Regards
Chris

There is a way to reorder the playlist in certain ways with the Filter option. For example:

Sort By
     Title
     Recently Added
     Artist
     Album
     Custom

When you are on your playlist, you will see a 'SHUFFLE PLAY' button. Hold that button and drag it to the bottom of the screen. You should see a Filter option at the top of the screen. Select how you want to display the playlist from there.

Think that's the best you can do.

Yeah, that's the best you can do but its really not good enough for anyone who likes to edit playlists. What if I realise I want to reorder a couple of songs and I've already put 20 songs in a playlist - I have to start all over again! It's nonsensical and I'm glad to have cancelled my subscription over this issue (though sad that I can't use what otherwise would be the best music service around).

That method doesn't allow you to move individual songs around the playlist. The only way to do something like moving a single song from 6th on the list to 1st is to recreate the entire playlist (or find a regular computer or iOS device to use to make the change).

Once I select custom, I still don't understand how to edit the list.

You don't. That's the point of this thread. You can't move individual songs around on an android device. If you want to move individual songs around, you need to recreate the play list from scratch.
