Premium user on an up to date Android phone with the latest available version of Spotify. Having serious issues with offline mode. Very few songs actually give any sound. If there is no reliable solution to this I will be taking my family off the service.
I have no desire to be constantly online in order to listen to music when I have paid for a service that says it allows offline play. Happy to connect in WiFi environments, that is not the issue. Though whilst we are at it I also dislike the fixation to get me to share what I am listening to.
Have you tried a clean install following the below guide?
[GUIDE] How to fix common issues for Spotify on Android
have premium on my Moto G, offline mode...playlist is downloaded. When i try to hear any song in the playlist, it often starts and stops after seconds. i also cant use any buttons to change the track start stop etc... rly stupid bug, hope that it can be fixed.

I recommend you contact Spotify Support using the form here.

Hi I am having the issue described in question 1 (Have you made a playlist available offline which you could not play without any internet connection?)
Basically spotify just has the menu icon loaded up if I open it offline, I can use my playlist offline ONLY if load it up in a place where I have connection. If I close the app in a place with no connection, It will not load my playlists. I have tried uninstalling the app, clearing the data and cache, and deleting the folder manually as described in your troubleshooting thread. This began happening after I upgraded my Nexus 5 to Android 5.0
I have not been able to find a solution and its very difficult to remember to open the spotify app before I lose connection so that my playlist load up.
Please help!
thanks
Have you made a playlist available offline which you could not play without any internet connection?
Hello, I'm having an issue in two different devices, so I think this isn't my fault. I have tried many of the suggested things, but nothing seems to work.
I have an Asus MemoPad HD7 (ME173X) running 4.2.2 (stock rom) and an bq Aquaris E5 running 4.4.4. (stock rom). Both of them have internal memory + almost completely empty external memory. Initially I was having an issue with the app not downloading the songs to my external memory, but I was able to fix it by reinstalling.
Here's my real problem:
I have one playlist that I want to download with 649 songs in it. Some of the times that I've tried downloading that playlist, the percentage either gets stuck and stops downloading a few minutes after that, or is completely wrong (sometimes it says "downloaded X out of 375", others it says "downloaded X out of 740"). No matter which way it goes, it "finishes" without any songs available offline.
Because that playlist is so big, I decided to create a test playlist with only 9 songs and re-try the whole offline process. Pressed download, waited for it to finish and... it worked! So... what changed?
Again, I have tried cleaning the cache, deleting the folders manually, rebooting, reinstalling, downloading in Extreme quality, all I could find here.
UPDATE: Tried once more with a new playlist containing 85 songs. Download was very slow, skipped over my "local files" songs and it did not work!.
It might be relevant so I'll link my previous thread here. Doesn't seem to affect all devices tho so... it's wierd.

Yes, I have been having these problems for the last few days - since I updated my Nexus 5 to the latest Android OS.
I have never had problems with my playlists up until this week - and I have been using Spotify for a year now.
I will be listening to a track, when it suddenly stops. I restart it, and the same thing happens again within 2 minutes. I then attempt to restart it a third time, and Spotify suddenly decides to take ALL the playlists on my phone offline BY ITSELF. When I turn on my computer, where the files sync from, it's like my phone has also told the computer that all my playlists cannot be available offline too.
I have reloaded all my playlists onto my phone multiple times in the last few days, as this has been happening almost each time I use my phone. I have also tried a clean re-install of the app, with no success.
This has been a very frustrating experience, as I have over 3000 files, and I use Spotify to listen to all my podcasts too.
This is happening to me too and I am ready to stop my membership. I got spotify so I could listen offline while I commute. No one seems to be answering questions.
I'm a free user and I can't play my local files offline playlists with airplane mode "on" with my Android 5.0.1 on Google Nexus 5.
I have an offline mode problem on my HTC One M8 (Last update HTC6525LVW_3.28.605.4_R-2.21.605.2_R from Verizon). This has been happening for about the last 6 months(probably more I didnt keep track). I have 67 GBs of space available. I login with Facebook, I always update Spotify in hope of a remedy.
1. All my playlists marked as available offline start downloading each time I start Spotify even if the download completes in a previous session.
2. I’ll go offline after the playlist downloads complete, I end the app session, when I try to start the application again it makes me login into online mode.
Scenario:
>Start Spotify
>listen to music
>offline playlists finish downloading
>set to offline mode
>exit Spotify on phone
>start Spotify
>won’t let me continue without logging in
>downloads start again
*My 2 cents, it seems like there might be a communication issue between the Spotify app and my Facebook app and or credentials.
3. 4/5 times after I close the app I have to reboot my phone because the app won’t run again even after force closing it.
Scenario:
>Start Spotify
>listen to music
>close Spotify
>try to open Spotify to no avail
>force close the application
> try to open Spotify, fail
>reboot phone
>Spotify starts
>Start process again
*My 2 cents, no idea I’m not an app dev. guy.
4. Please fix this.
Thanks,
Jesus
Also having issues downloading any playlists onto my Android devices (as in, I can't do it at all). I have a work Samsung Android version 4.3 and a personal HTC One M8 on the new Jellybean 5.01 version.
It lets you switch a playlist to offline, appears to download all the songs correctly, and then as soon as its finished, it flips back to online only.
Ive tried reinstalling, restarting etc.. totally miffed Premium user.
I can download playlists for offline use on my partners iPhone.
😞
Hi all,
You can add me to the list of M8 users who started to have hard time using Spotify after Lollipop update. After the update, I got all problems discussed before. I tried everything just to make the app start properly; eventually put my phone into recovery mode, then wiped the cache. After that Spotify ran. But, when I try downloading my plalists, It randomly stopped & I had to kill, then, the app wouldn't even start, leaving me with a blank screen. Then there were silent trakcs (either completely, or partially).
Worst thing is that when I have to kill the Spotify app now, It makes the phone unstable. Restarting or shutting down actually make it go into a catatonic state in which the phone appears to be switched off but it isn't. In that state, battery drains much faster and the phone cannot be switched on the regular way. I have to push both volume-up & power buttons simultaneously to restart it. Then I go back to square one, i.e fire up Spotify to make it crash again.
Regards,
Perit
hello. I have spotify premium and i download alot of music on my phone. in the past couple of months i have saved music and downloaded it and usually it just magically becomes undownloaded from my phone within a week or two for no apparent reason and i have to go back through all music and redownload and even go find music and save it to my library again. its even happened while im playing music. this is a huge nuisance and i have tried signing out and uninstalling and everything else but none of it has worked. PLEASE HELP ME!!!
What are the minimum internet speed requirements for downloading music?
I'm currently in a low-internet area but on my Z3c I still manage to stream youtube videos (with some buffering) and listen online radio.
However, Spotify just doesn't work. Sometimes it allows me to browse the various sections (top lists, new relases, etc) but it simply won't let me play or download any music and it tells me that I'm offline and that Spotify is waiting for connection.
I'm not expecting super-fast downloads, I'd be happy with slow downloads as well, but the app just doesn't seem to work at all in low-internet areas.
For what it's worth, on my Mac I have the same issue (error code 117 and 114), but that's for another forum.
