Hey there,
I’ve noticed two inconsistent and somewhat illogical behaviors in the Recents section of the latest Spotify app on Android:
Recents doesn’t show all content when no filter is selected
When you go to Recents, the app only displays the songs you’ve played — even though no filter (Music or Podcasts) is selected at the top. Logically, if no filter is applied, the list should show everything you’ve recently played, including podcasts.
Furthermore, when you manually select Music, the list remains exactly the same, since it was already showing only music. In other words, toggling the Music filter currently has no effect. This feels inconsistent and illogical.
Podcasts disappear from Recents once removed from Your Episodes
In Recents, the app shows both music you’ve played from your playlists and music that isn’t saved anywhere. However, this doesn’t apply to podcasts.
If you play a podcast episode that was in Your Episodes and later remove it, it also disappears from Recents. This behavior is inconsistent for two reasons:
I’ve played that episode, so it should remain in Recents regardless of whether it’s in Your Episodes or not.
If Recents is supposed to only show saved content, then it’s inconsistent to display music that isn’t in any list while removing unsaved podcasts.
Could you please look into this? It seems like the logic behind how Recents handles podcasts vs. music is not aligned, and it would be great to have consistent behavior across both.
Thanks a lot!

Hi, @ukergin,
Thanks for reaching out!
I wasn't able to reproduce these on my end. Recents groups both songs and episodes I've listened to when no filter has been applied, and removing episodes from Your Episodes doesn't seem to make them disappear from Recents.
In the video you've attached, the contents of 'no filter' and 'Music' seem to match, since it looks like you haven't listened to any podcasts that day - the first entry was from Oct 14th.
That being said, it's worth performing a clean reinstall of the app to rule out any potential issues caused by corrupted cache. If you often switch between devices (like from mobile to PC, for example), it's worth checking if keeping Spotify running in the background would help sync Recents and have it display the content properly.
Cheers 🤘
Hey @yordan, thanks for your answer. I am attaching three screenshots where it clearly shows that one podcast called "What Happens When You Are Under Anesthesia?" which I played today (as it can be seen as Finished). Then I removed it from "Your Episodes". And, as you can see, Recents does not seem to pick this up as played. Please confirm.
Hey @ukergin,
Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info shared.
That's an odd behavior since the recently played episode should show when activating the Podcast filter. To continue investigating this, would you mind confirming if you've already performed a clean reinstall of the app as mentioned by @Yordan? If not, give it a try to see if it makes any difference.
If the issue persists after the process, we'd recommend logging out from your account and logging back in twice to force the sync between your account and your device.
Lastly, would you mind checking on a different device (using your own account) to see if it shows the recently played episode or not? If you don't have another one available, you can borrow one from a friend or family member to test it out.
Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.
Hey @OscarDC, thanks for your reply. Sorry, I forgot about the clean reinstall part. Yes, I did that. And I will test again with a different podcast today to see if the played show up in Podcasts. This particular podcast was played and finished in the car. I am not sure if that was the reason. But in any case, it was registered as played in the Spotify app. So, the expectation was that it should show under the Recents as well.
