My Question or Issue

Hi there @Remolcoy,

Thanks for reaching out. Hope you don’t mind us responding in English, as this is the official language of the Community.

Could you elaborate a bit on what exactly you mean with the "scratch" sound? Namely the following:

  • Do you mean that there's crackling or other noises when playing songs?
  • Does the playback break up and stutter?
  • Does it only happen on Android or other devices too?

Consider checking your volume normalization settings to see if that's causing it. If you use an equalizer, try turning that off, especially if it's some kind of third party app and see if that makes a difference.

Let us know how it goes.

The first option you mentioned is what's happening. While any song is playing, with the phone screen off, there are crackling and popping noises, like a scratched or dirty CD. This started suddenly, without any updates or changes to settings. I've already checked different settings, disabled the equalizer, tried all the sound quality options, disabled volume normalization and battery usage settings, and disabled the Dolby Atmos option that Motorola includes. Nothing has worked. This only happens with my Android phone and specifically with Spotify; I don't have this problem with other similar apps. As an aside, I had this same problem in the middle of last year. I used to use Dolby Atmos, but at some point, it stopped working with Spotify and caused the same annoying noises, which forced me to disable it and use Spotify's built-in equalizer.

Hey @Remolcoy,

Thanks for your reply and for the clarification!

We tried looking up similar threads and found one where a bunch of users experienced the same issue, but on a different Android device and said that disabling the "Hey Google" hotword detection resolved the issue, so feel free to give that a try. There are also some useful suggestions in this thread, which seem to have worked and you can try turning off these settings:

  • Put unused apps to sleep
  • Auto optimize daily
  • Auto restart at set times
  • Adaptive battery
  • Adaptive power saving

As this seems to be device-related in most cases and you mentioned this only happening on your phone, you can also test this out by logging in on a friend or relative's device to confirm if that really is the cause. If the above doesn't help and your account works fine on a different phone, it might be worth reaching out to the manufacturer as well to get some more info and assistance.

Hope this helps.
