My Question or Issue

When I sort my playlist and start playing it while sorted, it should play in the order displayed. However, it starts playing in the recently added order. In this screenshot it was sorted by artist and it still plays by artist, just not in the displayed order. I have only experienced this issue on my phone, it doesn't happen when playing spotify on my PC.

Hi there @jerry22717,

Thanks for reaching out. We'll be glad to help you get everything playing in the desired order.

You mentioned this is only on your phone, but when did it start happening? Did it work as expected before? And just to make sure we have our bases covered, consider performing a clean reinstall to fix any damaged cache that may be causing this.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi Joan, I did a clean reinstall and that seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks for the help!

Hello again, it would appear that my earlier message was wrong. I was listening to spotify again and the issue reappeared.

I did some more investigating and the problem seems to be related to my echo dot. I often listen through my echo dot when on my phone and rarely through my phone itself so that's why I thought it was a phone problem. Spotify works fine when just listening on my phone. That's also why I thought it was fixed, I checked it on my phone and not my echo dot.

Hi @jerry22717,

Thanks for the reply and for letting us know about this. Can you confirm that this only happens when playing on the Echo dot? Does it happen when playing through other Connect devices? If you haven't tested that, please do so and let us know how it goes. In the meantime, you can also try disconnecting the Echo dot and your account from the Alexa app and then reconnecting and reconfiguring them. This often helps resolve connectivity or playback discrepancies.

Keep us posted.

As far as I can tell, this only happens with my echo dot.

I tried reconnecting my echo dot, did not change anything. I don't own any other connect devices to test it with so I don't know what would happen there.

Hey @jerry22717,

Thanks for the reply!

Just to double-check, since you mentioned this doesn't happen on your PC - if you start the playback in the desktop app and connect to your Echo Dot from there, does the issue still occur?

It also seems that you have Repeat on, so can you check if turning it off makes a difference? If it doesn't, it's also worth performing a factory reset of the Echo Dot in case you're okay with that. You can find the steps here according to your Echo device's version.

I have checked on my PC and the problem is still present when connecting to my Echo Dot from my PC. Turning off repeat hasn't made a difference. I tried a factory reset of my Echo Dot which didn't change anything.

Hey @jerry22717,

Thanks for the patience!

Our tech folks are looking into this, but they weren't able to reproduce the issue. Can you let us know if you've experienced it again recently?

Keep us posted.
