Please fix chromecast with Spotify

Solved!

Please fix chromecast with Spotify

Spotify has always been buggy with chromecast.

- It looses connection

- Often can't adjust volume without reconnecting to the chromecast. Or you must use the Google Home app.

- You must force close the app to discover cast devices when you come back home

- Spotify often shows a different song under "now playing" than what's actually being played

- Can't adjust volume if connected to a group of chromecasts. Workaround is using the Google Home app, but this is awfully cumbersome

I have never seen a changelog where you tell anything specific about fixing chromecast connectivity.

Do you ever update the Google Cast API? Have you (developers) tried Spotify with casting devices yourself? Can you honestly say that "yeah, everythings fine"? The biggest music streaming service in the world should not settle with the stability and performance of the chromecast support before it is as good or better than the Google Music app.

I think I'm not the only customer who'd wish for a less buggy experience using Spotify with casting devices.

It still works for me. But, only to show the remote devices.

All other issues still happen...

Spotify connect still disconnecting most of the time when playing thru Chromecast audio. Please fix it. It's getting worse.

My Chromecast Audio devices had major problems when streaming in a group.

One of two stayed most of the time in standby, or suddenly disappered from devices cast list.

Disabled "Airtime fairness" in my routers WLAN settings, and now my chromecast problems are gone.

Be sure to have these router settings enabled:

Multicast, Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP), IGMP snooping

Optional enabled: Universal Plug and Play (UPnP)

Be sure to have these router settings disabled::

AP/client isolation, proxy servers, IGMP Proxy, virtual private networks (VPNs)

Hello.

I have the same problem since month that my chromecast drops the connection with sportify.

Please fix the problem.

When I start listening music with my SGS8 trough spotify it starts playing. Then if I want to skip to next song it has somehow lost connection to chromecast because song starts to play from my phone speaker. app restart dont help.

SAME PROBLEM continues if I move to my Macbook. Cant skip to next song. It starts playing in my laptop speakers.

VERY ANNOYING!

  • It's 2018 and yet, still your description of the problem is so accurate. So sad 😞

maybe that's why they removed the cast option from the app 😄

What do you mean?

As a relatively new person to chromecast and a new Spotify family plan, I came here hoping for answers to near constant problems with Spotify on chromecast audio. Instead of answers I find an alarming number of frustrated customers who've been putting up with this problem for quite some time--with seemingly no acknowledgment from Spotify. This is flat out depressing. Spotify this is not what I pay you for and there is literally every other music service that works just fine. Get your act together and talk to your customers or I'll take my business elsewhere. I use a galaxy s7, Google home and an additional stereo linked via chromecast audio.

Hey Spotify, this issue is embarrassing. Whatever changes you did autumn-winter 2017 that can potentially affect the streaming to Chromecast Audio, please undo.

Sincerely, your premium customer, Daniel.

I wish I would have seen this thread before recently purchasing chromecast for my home system.  I was forced to do this when Spotify stopped supporting my Denon receiver.  I am having same problems as everyone on this thread - whether I use android phone, android tablet, or PC - music continually stops for 1-2 seconds or many seconds; song is not in sync on device vs what is playing; impossible to stop casting.  Based on what I read here, it does not look like Spotify plans on fixing the problem so I plan to switch to another service supprted by Denon and dropping my Spotify premium account.  I will also provide feedback to Denon to stop recommending Chromecast as a way to get Spotify - it just does not work.

I have the same problem. What's the deal spotify? You claimed this was fixed months ago. I am completely unable to discover chromecast.

I keep losing volume control from my pixel 2 when casting. Have to close app and reopen to get it back. Then it goes again later on.

This is really annoying. I've been experiencing the problem for more than a year now! I feel very lucky when there's a day when Spotify discovers my Chromecast the first time. In 90% of cases I need to restart the app and often restarts don't even work... Will this ever be fixed?

I just wanted to add my voice to this thread. The Spotify App is not showing my Chromecasts on any of my android devices.

However I can get Spotify to stream to my Chromecasts by asking Google Home or Google Assistant to do it for me! Then I can use Spotify connect to control the stream.

I think this clearly indicates the fault is with the Spotify app and not Google.

Also every other music streaming service works correctly 100% of the time.

Replying also to pile on this issue. I'm a newer subscriber for just a few weeks, but I'm finding the connectivity to Chromecast Audio unreliable and now it is completely missing from Spotify as a device.  I can see/control it from Google Home, and I can see my Denon receiver from Spotify.  Would really hope Spotify had a reply to this issue by now.  I'm willing to help troubleshoot/test even!

I'm so so frustrated.

Posted detailed info for my devices and troubleshooting on the larger thread that is annoyingly marked "solved"

Same issue here..... Restaring chrome-audio cast, restarting Spotity (even re-installing), nothing is helping to get rid of the issue. I use a Samsung S7 edge, worked good in the past but now it is the most buggy app that I have.
