My Question or Issue
Playing podcasts on my laptop is fine - when I listen on my phone, they play in random order. I read a solution to this is to download them, which has helped with that issue.
My current issue now is when I try to filter podcasts by date, it works the first time and shows them earliest to latest, but when I try and download one, the screen will suddenly start flipping between displaying latest to earliest and back and forth, so I can't take any action on things until the episode I was downloading has finished downloading, at which point it seems to settle and go back to displaying earliest to latest normally.
I've tried reinstalling the app and clearing the storage, but it's still happening.
Has anyone else seen this or have any tips on fixes to try?
The Spotify version on my phone is 18.104.22.1680
The other phone I tried with is an OnePlus 3T (Android version 9, model ONEPLUS A3003, OxygenOS version 9.0.6) with the Spotify version 22.214.171.1240
I have 6,2 GB of storage available.
Hi again @meguisb,
Thanks for bearing with us and for all the info you've shared.
There's currently a newer version of the app. Could you try running a clean reinstall again and let us know how it goes?
We'll be looking out for your reply.
I ran the clear reinstall, and I can see that I do have the newer version of the app (126.96.36.1999), but I tried reorganizing the podcast episodes again, and it still does not work, the issue remains the same.
Thank you for keeping us on the loop and sharing this info.
Could you confirm if this issue is happening only with one specific podcast, or with any you try to listen to?
Keep us posted!
As far as I can tell, it happens with any and all podcasts.
Hi again @meguisb,
Thank you for your reply.
Can you provide us a screen recording from the beginning to the end so that we can have a closer look directly from your end?
Keep us posted 🙂
Thanks for taking the time to try all the troubleshooting we've suggested and for sending this video.
We've gone ahead and reported this to the team in charge, who will take a deeper look into the issue.
We'll get back to you as soon as we have more info on this.
Stay tuned 🙂
Hi again folks,
In order to continue investigating this issue, we'll ask you to confirm one more time the exact app version you're currently running.
We'll be on the lookout!
The app version I have is 188.8.131.526
Thanks for sharing this info.
We've forwarded this to the team and will keep you posted.
Please make sure you're running the latest app version. If you do, check if the issue is still happening.
If the issue persists please let us know your current app version.
Keep us posted.
I updated the app and it seems to have worked! I tried it with all my podcasts, and the orders do in fact change and remain that way.
Thank you so much!

Hi, I'm experiencing this same issue. I performed a clean install and the issue has persisted (attached video was recorded after clean install).
Device info - Pixel 3, Android 11
Spotify version - 184.108.40.2067
Video can be found here (video was too large)
Thanks for posting here 🙂
We've passed your info on to the right team. We'll let you know as soon as there are any updates on this.
The Community is here for you if there's anything else!
Hi there @ralphatobe,
Could you let us know if the issue persists after logging out and restarting the app twice in a row? This may sound odd but it's how the app refreshes.
It's also a good idea to restart your phone and check with a different connection to see if there's a difference.
Keep us posted on how it goes.
I tried both methods you suggested and the issue is still present. Let me know if there are other possibilities I should attempt.
Hey there @ralphatobe,
Thanks for the reply.
Could you upload an updated screen recording of the issue please. This will help us look into the matter further 🙂
