Problems when playing Spotify through Android Auto in Car

Solved!

Problems when playing Spotify through Android Auto in Car

Have an issue with Android auto and not sure what the problem is.  It only happens when my Phone (galaxy S7 with latest software) is connected by Bluetooth to my 2015 Ford Fiesta.  Basically I can't use spotify in Android Auto.  It just keeps playing for a second then shutting down and loading again then shutting down.  It's fine if I do the same thing through any other bluetooth source just the car.  Also I can play Spotify fine on its own.  If I use tunein radio within Android auto its fine.

The fact that it plays fine through any other Bluetooth source leads me to think its something to do with the car but I'm not sure as it used to work before.

Any ideas?

I solved it in phone's app manager. Select Spotify allow all permissions for Spotify.

Hi,

Every problem I had with Spotify in my car was solved by going to the Apps list chosing Spotify and let Spotify get access to everything on the list you see. I hope it works for you as well! Good luck!

I have the same issue when trying to play spotify on my 2017 Honda civic with my galaxy s7 edge. Android auto says spotify cannot be accessed at this time, but I am able to play the music through my phone. I have no other issues with any other apps on android auto. When I reinstalled spotify it worked until I unplugged my phone again. I've tried reinstalling android auto and that did not work.

I also have the same problem - "Spotify can't be accessed at this time". I have a Samsung Galaxy S7. It's been working perfectly before. This happened just a few days ago. Is there an update that can solve this? It would be nice with an answer from someone at Spotify.

This exact same thing has happened to me. I have a s7 and trying to connect Spotify through android auto to a Kia sportage 2017. It was working fine until this weekend when it says Spotify can't connect at this time. It does however connect through bluetooth. I have uninstalled both apps and reinstalled but hasn't worked. Any ideas to try would be welcome. Thank you

Same problem here.  I have a Galaxy S6 and this just started happening this week.  If i reinstall the app, it works- once.  If I force stop, it works - once.  But in both cases, when I try to connect in my car the next time, it won't work and I have to go through the process again.  If anyone has a solve please let me know as I'm about to cancel my premium subscription.

same issue and same timing. I can reproduce this issue by logging into android auto app which confirms that it is not a car issue. This issue started at the same time of the last Spotify app updoate.  As mentioned above, if spotify is 'force stopped' or 'reinstalled' everything will work only once. Will stop working next time turned on.

Spotify Support, please fix!

I have same issue..s7 with VW Android Auto

Same here, only started last week. 2017 Mokka X, Samsung S7 Edge. Really annoying!

Hi. The deinstallation / reinstallation of Spotiy solved this problem for me.

Tried that as well. Worked a few times then went back to the problem. Let us know if you have better luck please

Oh no! Having the same problem again. Spotify doesnt work through Android Auto. How come it works one day and not the other? What's left to do after reinstallation?? Nu version is 840539 armV7.

I've got a new Audi, I've had an issue with Spotify over the last few weeks via the app. It says that Spotify cannot be accessed or that something is wrong. I can play spotify using the Spotify app, then have it play in my car but then I lose all contol to it using the audio controls on the car. I can then only use it via the phone. Does anyone know if this issue has been resolved?

I think this has worked for me, i had been hesitant to post about it in case it was fluke, but it has been over a week so far and all good.

Thank you

Same problem is back.  I have, at one point or another, tried every solution posted on this site.  The only thiing that works for me is to force stop Spotify before I connect to my car - every time.  Is is less than awesome.

My Spotify has stopped working again! All permissions are on. Worked for about 2 weeks now back to the same error message
