Solved!

Something went wrong error message

My Question or Issue

Spotify works smoothly on my PC and the web page on the web. Unfortunately the app won't open on my phone, I'll click the app and it just backs out giving me a message saying "Something went wrong, Spotify closed because this app has a bug, try updating after its developer provides a fix for the error". The appstore has no update available for the app so I'm at a lost. I've reinstalled it, cleared cache, restated my phone, nothing has worked.

Better give me some free premium for the psychological torment I went through trying to find out the problem 😔

Update: Signed in with a different account and it works fine. Tried to log back in with my original account and got a message saying "You can only use Spotify abroad for 14 days. Update your location at Spotify.com" I did check my location at Spotify.com and it was correct.

Hey Yordon, I'm having the exact same problem but I'm on a Motorola Android phone and don't know what to do, all that pops up when I open Spotify is a black screen with my pfp, and the icon bar at the bottom and the something went wrong, thave another go and try again, and

I haven't even been out of the county recently😭. So, are we just at a sort of standstill until Spotify fixes it, or do I genuinely give up on my account? Is it even worth waiting to see if they do anything?

Apparently in Spotify AI help chat (which is totally useless) you can request to speak with a real person and they do some stuff on their end and it works. That's at least what reddit says. Frustrating that they haven't deployed a fix, as it seems a lot of users are having the same problem.

dude that's so annoying. Thank you though I'll be trying that, I suppose.

Hello I got same issue. On my Android app I cannot play anything, just got the "something went wrong error message". Tried to log out/ log back, tried the clean install, still the same. On my PC I have no issue, just on my phone.

I got latest Spotify app (not beta), Samsung Galaxy S23 mobile with latest Android)

Hey everyone,

A reinstall from the official Google Play store has been a confirmed fix for the issue you're experiencing, but sometimes it can take up to 24hrs for this to reflect on your end. Make sure to remain on the latest version and check back after 24hrs.

If you haven't already, I'd recommend rebooting your device to force a resync.

Take care.

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem with Spotify Android version 9.1.46.1936 on a Galaxy A52. With the same (free) account everything works fine on an iPad. I have tried all of the above steps (phone restart, app uninstall and reinstall, switched between Wi-Fi  and Data) but nothing seems to help. The issue started to appear yesterday out of the blue - no trips or major location changes.

Any hints/suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Best,

Adrian

Thanks for responding. It has been over 24hrs and no changes for my account. I did a clean reboot again as well. Is it another 24hrs after rebooting? Or if I uninstall the app and reinstall is it 24hrs after that?

Tengo el mismo problema desde el día de ayer, ya borre en instale de nuevo Spotify, borre cache, libere espacio, en otro dispositivo si funciona pero en mi celular principal no

I was able to log into my Spotify account and use it on a Pixel 6A.
Another user was also able to log in and use my device for their account.

After she signed out, I tried to login again, on my mobile - but I still got the same error.

If I need to open a new account - is it possible to export /import my preferences to a new account (as I still have access to my account from my laptop).

Hi,

Ive the same problem. Free plan.

Something went wrong, try again after I logged in. Other spotify-accounts on my android phone are working well. My account does work on other devices.

Did all the things mentioned above.

Are there more of these errors?

Is it a general problem?

Thanks in advance.

One more remark: I have downgraded the Spotify app to 9.1.44.2104 but the issue still occurs. BTW, my Android Version is 14, Build number  UP1A.231005.007.A525FXXSCFYF1...

I'm also having this problem since yesterday when the mobile app was streaming and then started to skip music after music, until giving an error and all playlists or musics went balnc, turning impossible to play.

I've already cleaned the cache, reinstaled the app and restarted the phone (samsung A25), abut nothing worked so far.

ive tried this and the people say the exact same as the bots. just reinstall and do all cache delete steps and wait 24 hours it didnt work for me so i talked to them again and they said do the exact same steps and wait 24 hours again 🫩

  • I have the same issue. I'm not abroad, and my country is correct. I have already tried clearing the cache and it's still not working.

this is so stupid 🫩. it's been like this for two straight days..do you
think it's just a bug that needs to be patched ?

I contacted spotify support, and after hours of speaking with people, the last person concluded: theres nothing else we can share at the moment.

My Question or Issue

I can no longer download any podcasts. When I tap on one of my subscribed podcasts, I get the "Something went wrong" message. Previously downloaded episodes are gone. Even the Home button only takes me to "something went wrong." Searches yield no results, as if podcasts don't exist.
