My Question or Issue
Spotify works smoothly on my PC and the web page on the web. Unfortunately the app won't open on my phone, I'll click the app and it just backs out giving me a message saying "Something went wrong, Spotify closed because this app has a bug, try updating after its developer provides a fix for the error". The appstore has no update available for the app so I'm at a lost. I've reinstalled it, cleared cache, restated my phone, nothing has worked.

Hello, same issue. All playlists and podcasts are empty on my phone (OnePlus).
I've already confirmed that the country is correct and I've performed a clean reinstall.

I have the same problem started happening like 2 days ago, tried everything, clearing cache, reinstalling, switching network, waited 24h but still the same error message. Only seems to happen on my main account, when I log in with another account it works just fine.
Hi Paula, so I am going to list what other methods that I have tried as recommended.
1.Tried using another person's account to login on my phone. Theirs works fine on my phone, just not mine.
2. Tried to reinstall the app as what Yordan said. Waited 24hours. Still no luck.
Still stuck on the something is wrong page after rebooting and switching network accounts.

Is anyone able to look into this further? Or do we wait 24hrs after each cache clearing/uninstall/clean restart/reinstall and do this over and over day after day? It makes no sense. This seems to be an expanding problem and the 24hr wait has not been a confirmed fix for anyone on here the last few days. Can you at least confirm that people are looking into it further? I used Spotify all the time (hours a day) and this has been so frustrating not being able to have my music or podcasts when I clean, exercise, carpool, run errands, yardwork etc. It was a huge part of my daily routine. Please give a more detailed response. Thank you!
Hello! so ive been having this problem for OVER A WEEK NOW, support keeps telling me to reinstall, clear cache and so on, doesnt work on any mobile devices and like it only works on my laptop.
Somehow it scrolled through my whole playlist and skipped each song then bam it wasnt working. The cache clearing isnt working. I believe its smth do do with region and VPN but im not entirely sure.
It can still see other devices playing that song but wont let me play it from that device

YORDAN or other MODS - can you confirm that you cannot touch the app for 24 hrs after reinstall? This was NOT at all clear in your previous instructions. You made it same that within 24hrs the app will work, not that you can't open it before that 24hrs. Please clarify. Many people have this problem and you need more detailed instructions than just waiting 24hrs is a confirmed fix.
I just checked mine, only 2-4 songs were seen in my liked songs (originally had around 580 songs), same as in other other playlists. Full recovery is required.
@showerofstars I see the same thing on my end! I don't dare open and login on the app until tomorrow AM. I hope mods confirm the new version solves the problem or that we have to not touch reinstalled app for 24hrs. They haven't responded to anything lately unfortunately.
For what it's worth, my version still says 9.1.46.1936

its all resolved for me now. im not sure if spotify fixed the bug but i did the steps and didnt open it for 24 hours like how another person here said and its all fixed now! 🙂
@showerofstars I chanced it and logged in anyway. Sucess!!!! New update must have fixed it for me!! Thank you for posting and to giantsfan97. Y'all were 1000x more helpful than the mods.
looks like they fixed whatever issue we were having bc i didnt do the steps on my other account which was having issues but it got fixed by itself 😄
Hooray, it does work again for me as well - did the uninstall/reinstall thing roughly 24h ago but in the meanwhile I did open the app to see whether it works. So the "do not touch it for 24h" is not it - I guess something got fixed on the Spotify side and we just had to wait patiently...
Things fully sorted for me too. It's back!! 😄
