I've been having an issue with spotify constantly crashing for months on android. This doesn't happen when playing on my laptop. I'll be listening to a song or podcast and it will crash and when I reopen it goes to the beginning of the song. It happens multiple times an hour on wifi or roaming. I've tried reinstalling the app, restarting my phone, giving spotify all possible permissions, allowing background data, signing in and out again, deleting cache and storage, updating it and all the things the internet suggests. I'm going to have to change streaming services because it's ruined spotify for me. What can I do?

Hey @milkybarkid,
Thanks for detailing everything you’ve already tried! You’ve put real time and effort into troubleshooting this and we completely understand how frustrating it is to keep running into the same issue despite doing all the right things.
To help narrow this down a bit further, you could try logging in with a different Spotify account on the same device to check whether the behavior changes. We’d also recommend reaching out to Fairphone support directly, as they may be able to point you to some device‑specific battery and background optimization settings.
Let us know how you get on.
Hi, I tried with a different account and the same thing happened. Also I don't think it's a fairphone issue because I've had Spotify on this phone for years and it's only in the last few months I've had issues.
Thanks
Hey @milkybarkid,
Thanks for trying the suggested steps.
We’ve shared the issue with the relevant team for further review. While we can’t confirm if or when it will be addressed, we appreciate you taking the time to flag it and help us investigate.
We're here if there's anything else.
So just to be clear, you've accepted there's a problem but won't commit to fixing it for a paying customer, or even letting me know that it will be. No customer service I have to post on this stupid board. Can't even get a refund because there is no customer service to message that isn't a bot. I'm cancelling Spotify, this is terrible
Chipping in here, I'm also on a Fairphone 4 and I experience the exact same issue, it also happens with Audible app. Therefore I don't think this is on Spotify but instead on the Fairphone team being inept at managing their flavour of Android.
I've seen elsewhere that some had a theory that they've bungled the battery life optimisation and the OS is being too aggressive killing apps to save battery. No matter what I've tried nothing has resolved the issue but I've resolved to never buy a Fairphone again.
Nice idea for a company but alas I've concluded that what you're really paying for when you buy a new phone every two years is competent software engineers that get the basics right.
OnePlus 12 user here and I have the exact same issue. Have also tried a bunch of troubleshooting including full reinstall of the app
