Spotify keeps deleting downloaded songs

Spotify premium keeps deleting my offline downloaded music, despite of the fact that I have enough empty storage room. What could be causing this problem?

Most other platforms are great but they only have popular music. I like old
stuff, musicals, heavy metal, sonnets, story recordings etc. Apple &
SoundCloud had nothing of interest. But I'll check out the others, ta!

I just did this on my phone. I pray it stops deleting my music!

I know the feeling. Just going through a tunnel (of which there are numerous here in the land of the nords) and was infuriated to discover they were deleted. They seem to be better about it on IOS though as it's never happened on my iPhone 6 but on my android phones it has happened a number of times and it is infinitely frustrating due to how spotty the mobile data is here in Norway on top of the fact that these days even simple websites struggle to load on the patches where only 3g is available as well as phones to this date seemingly are unable or unwilling to transition smoothly from one network type to another be it 4g to 3g, wlan or Heck even 4g+ to just normal 4g

Spotify just can't seem to get a grip. I'm stopping my writing assignment just to complain about this because I'm so done with it and I'm pissed. This has happened so many times over the course of my membership and it's beyond frustrating. I'll probably end up switching to Apple Music , though I love everything about Spotify but this issue is enough for me to leave. God I'm so pissed, what does a person have to do to retain their downloaded music?. Good god Spotify, I wish I didn't love you so much because you make me PISSED when you do this

I have the same issue- woke up today with all my downloads gone and I was in offline mode- honestly this happens way to much that I also just going to look for am alternative means of listening to music- I mean Netflix streams video and my downloads with them never have this issue.  I am a premium subscriber who obviously joined for the offline option.  Its a shame because it's a great platform but issues like this can make it unbearable to use- I hope this issue is taken seriously before it causes a large exodus of subscribers.

It's infuriating that they keep emailing me with deals to get me back on Spotify Premium.  I clearly stated that I left because of the unreliable offline function, so would only be interested in recommencing the "Premium" service if indeed it was premium.

Who did you start going to for your music? I'm with Amazon music and I
really don't like it. I have a friend who's had Spotify for awhile and had
never had issues with his music being deleted. I don't understand it? I
moved the Spotify app to my SD card and somehow it still got erased.

I used Tidal for a bit, sh*tiest thing ever, playback issues whilst streaming, no refunds for wasted subscription due to their errors and PayPal refuses to side with subscribers, avoid if possible.

Amazon Music is sh*t as well, very mediocre collection of music, if you like pop its probably fine.

Not tried Apple Music or Google Music yet, but both Android Apps get mixed reviews. Can't believe it's hard to make an app which can stream content and save music for offline use.

My thinking is that using internal memory would probably work fine for offline music, SD card seems to be a can of worms on Android anyway, so perhaps its not all Spotify's fault (even if so they still get the blame for how badly they are handling the problem).

I have now left for the same reason.

I went with Tidal. You get same service for their lower tier, but the only
annoying thing is you can't sort your music alphabetically, so add
carefully. Liking it so far. Didn't get on with Amazon music.

I've been using Google Play Music for a few months and I haven't had any problems. Once you get used to the different interface, it's pretty good to use. I only really listen to albums and some of the stations/preset playlists, so don't know what some of the more advanced functions are like.

I have the same problem with my albums. It's impossible to remember all of my downloaded albums from the last couple of years, a complete pain in the backside. Mine's on my ios.

Oh fantastic!!! Your solution to your app deleting music(which is the apps ONLY funtion that ppl give a f@#!%!!!!! about) and your brilliant solution is to keep redownloading the music!!! What if your traveling away from internet?!? Is your solution to that getting a new music app cause i think Pandora is available!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why fight it?  Why is everyone so in love with Spotify?  IT SUCKS!  Just DROP SPOTIFY and go with a service that actually works.  I'm using google play and it works fine.

i just save all my "download" material under a playlist. Each playlist has it's own artist or album, and just hit the "download" button. It'll stay there forever until you actually delete the playlist yourself. It's a **bleep** but it works...not sure if my last post went through, incase you see it twice.

Overnight all of my downloads were deleted and the download option was deselected on all Playlists/Albums/Songs.

Luckily it kept all of my records but very annoying to have to go in and click download on all of them again.

Is there no fix in the works or at least an acknowledgement that there is an issue?

Has this issue been resolved? I was riding the New York subway this morning, listening to downloaded music, then when I got to work I noticed all of my downloaded music was deleted!

Nupe. And they ignore requests to sort it. I've moved to Tidal.

So I have found a workaround. Spotify app does delete local music, however not playlists.

So if you create a playlist of all the bands you listen to, you will be able to listen to the songs even though it shows as not downloaded in the app itself.

It is not ideal, and it can get a bit annoying to add all the new music you like, but you do not need to re-download songs ever again.

Hope this makes life easier for somebody

It deletes all of my downloads whether in playlists or not.
