My Question or Issue

Hi guys (and gals),

With the recent requirement to use the new (4x2 default) widget I've tried to use the new widget, but despite everything I've found telling me I should be able to resize it smaller (ideally a 5x1 size would work best to replace my current old (4x1 default) widget, but 4x1 or smaller would also work). I am pressing and holding on the widget and am able to resize it larger, but it wont go smaller than 2x2 or larger than 5x4. Is there a known solution to this issue?

Many thanks,

TOG_2

Hi there @TOG_2,

Thanks for reaching out. We'll be glad to help you with the Android widget.

The default size of the widget is 4x2, but it can be resized to anything from 1x1 to 4x4. Be advised though that this does vary depending on the device. Make sure you're using the new widget with all the visible playlist recommendations and not the old one with just the player. The old widget is deprecated, but it's possible you may still see it and that one lacks the resizing options of the new widget.

If the resizing of the new widget still doesn't work, send us some screenshots and let us know in greater detail what the behaviour is so we can look into it and assist you further.

Hope this helps.

Hi Joan,

Thanks for getting back to me. I believe I'm trying to resize the correct widget. There should be some screenshots showing the new widget at various resizing sizes. The default (4x2), the smallest I could get it (2x2), the largest I could get it (4x4) and the closest I could get to my preferred size of 5x1 (5x2).

The widget behaves as other widgets do when trying to resize them beyond their limits. It allows the bounding box evident in my screenshots to move beyond the limit, but rebounds back to the minimum size of 2x2 if I attempt to take either vertical or horizontal dimensions to 1x or x1.

Hi @TOG_2,

Thank you for clarifying.

There's some discussion going on about this exact behaviour in this thread. We're monitoring things, so keep an eye on it for any updates. Beyond that though, be advised that going to 5x won't work either way, as that goes beyond the limits of the widget. But we appreciate the feedback on that too.

Hope this clears things up.

Hi Joan,

Thanks for getting back to me on this. I've had a look at the other thread and will follow there for any updates on this. Interesting that the widget supposedly has a limit of 5x as it seems perfectly happy to go to 5x on my screen but not smaller than x2 or bigger than x4. Despite theoretically not being 5x capable, it seems happy enough to go that wide.

Again, I'll follow on the other thread for updates and hopefully a solution.
