Moving tracks within playlists

Moving tracks within playlists

If you have a big playlist, with dozen of tracks, it is no longer possible to move 'say track 65 up to 10th position. Quite frustrating.

Hey @Mamar,

Thanks for posting here 🙂 I'm wondering whether this might be an issue with the app or rather a feature change.

Would you mind letting me know what device you're on and the version of Spotify app it's running? I'll try and take a look to see if I can reproduce it on my end.

Cheers!

Hey @Mamar

This was an issue in desktop app version 1.1.74

I just got the new desktop app version 1.1.75 that is rolling out right now and this has been fixed.

Everyone should have the new update once it's fully rolled out.

Nice one @MattSuda!

Yes!! THANK YOU!!! This has been a major issue for me. Moving newly added tracks higher within a playlist is an important feature. Now, it's completely gone. What the heck, Spotify?! Why would you get rid of it?

Now, the only way to actually do this is (1) select every single track above the track you want to move up, (2) move that entire selection down below that track, and then (3) move that track down within the formerly selected chunk of tracks to get it where you want.

It's super annoying that it has to be like this now. I hate it. This is with Spotify on Windows.

@Peter It's 100% an issue for me, running Spotify for Windows version 1.1.74.631.

@joeburg Should be fixed in the new desktop app version 1.1.75. See @MattSuda's post earlier 😉

When can we expect the bug to be fixed ? Thanks

The bug is fixed in desktop app version 1.1.75. Everyone should have this new update soon.

Thanks but it is not fixed for me 😞

Hey @Mamar

What version of the desktop app are you using?

When an update is available it will auto install next time you restart Spotify.

This support article shows how to see if an update is available in the desktop app:

https://support.spotify.com/article/updating-spotify/

Should also show if an update is available if you go to ---> About Spotify popup window (this will also tell you what version you currently have)

The blue dot and text in the about window only show up when there is an update ready and you'll have the option to restart to install it.

Spotify is still not making this update available to me.

Same here. No update yet.

I am very happy to report that the update has (finally) been pushed through and the bug has been fixed. Thank you for taking care of this, Spotify. Hallelujah!
