Change language set up

The language set up on my account is not the proper one. Anyone who knows how to change the language?

Friends, 

as far as I understood spotify installation checks the Country information on your PC and it downloads the corresponding language installation. So whatever language you choose on the website to show you the setup checks the local country settings. What I did : 

I live to NL but I wanted it English so I turn the location settings of my computer settings to UK,, the format to UK and I downloaded spotify. 

The installation checked the location settings it saw that I live to UK and that's it. After you change the location settings to your normal ones and you are done 🙂

No that doesn't help anyone in this thread.  What some people, even the moderator, seem to not understand is that there are two language barriers in the spotify app.  #1 is the app interface, #2 is the content within the app (which is loaded via web services)

Spotify, like most other companies, make the same fatal error in displaying content.  They all think IP/Country should determine a person's language instead of realizing we are a global world now with many languages in many countries.  Yet dumb IT guys still follow the same dumb procedures in localization - and you see it always in the biggest companies.

Meanwhile, smart companies with smart IT guys realize that every computer exposes the USER'S choice of language, even in a web browser.  You can trust the language that the computer is set to as the language the customer desires far more than you can trust IP/GeoLocation/Country.

Spotify makes the same mistake.  I may live in a hispanic country, but I do not enjoy their music.  So my new spotify subscription will likely be cancelled now that I see they force me into spanish content, with no means of changing to English/USA or UK.  

Again, I stress the difference between the Spotify app's INTERFACE language (which you can set in the preferences) VS the Spotify CONTENT language which is automatic based on GEOLOCATION.

Spotify could fix this gaping hole in their service - but somehow I doubt they will take notice of this thread and take action.  Back to pandora with VPN it is!

Did you notice this thread started MORE THAN 3 YEARS AGO ! And still no fix..

Same problem here, English speaker in France with an English computer with unwanted French content on Spotify!

The same thing is happening in Finland, which has swedish and finnish as official languages. I'm swedishspeaking and I don't listen to finnish music generally as I'm not part of that culture. I would be better served with swedish content, but I get finnish lists served to me. Like you said Spotify doesn't understand that language and cultural preferences are not discernable from an IP address or in which country an account has been purchased. 

We can compare this to youtube where it is possible to choose whatever content stream you want regardless of country or IP address. Spotify should fix this asap.

It says that if you move country you have to change your subscription settings to the country where you live within two weeks Orleans have the account disabled.

Crazy and stupid of course but could that at least be the reason?

so im on a computer and some one has tampered with my settings and everything is displayed in spanish. I found the settings and changed it back to english. the problem is that it only changed a few words to english and the majority of spotify is in a different language. I can still navigate by memory but a solution would be a lot of help. thank you

Yep, confirm same issue here in Hong Kong, I'm an Expat from NZ and I get suggest lots of k-Pop and other Asian assortments, I really want UK or USA suggestions . . .

Oh well...at least I know I am not alone...I will just put up with the Dutch language adverts in my English-preferred listening on Spotify free (app on Mac).

I live in Portugal, but my iPad is set up in English and I've checked all the settings and everything says the uk and English, yet Spotify is in Portuguese and it's the only thing on my iPad that is in Portugeuse. Can anybody help me change the language??

I'm currently on holiday abroad and all of the language for my Spotify has changed I can't read anything and it won't let me change he language

Yeah, Spotify is definitely too stupid to understand the diference between country / IP / language.

I have everything showing in German despite the fact that i'd like to have home country suggestions, this means. If I was born in country X, live in country Y and want to listen to Spotify local Z content it just won't work.

Get your stuff together Spotify!

Spotify -- any solution to this? I have the player set to English, which works, but the website is in Dutch and I can't seem to change that.

The locale change is hidden at the bottom of the page - look for a flag.

Ah, right. However, it changes the country, not (just) the language. I'm going to try country=UK for a while and see how that works out.
