Crashing on startup/search issues

Hi all,

A number of users are experiencing some Spotify issues at the moment - crashing on startup, search not working, etc.

Could you help us out by posting the following info:

-- Operating system(s) affected

-- Version of Spotify

-- Country

Thanks everyone. The more accurate info we can collect the faster we can get this fixed.

It crashes as soon as the GAP ad is/would be over.

- Mac OS X 10.8.5

- Spotify Version 0.9.1.57.ge7405149

😞 Just started happening randomly today, had never happened before

There is a new version of the client rolling out from today which will hopefully help with the crashing issue.

If you haven't got it yet there are instructions to download manually here

Mine keeps crashing too!

I have spotify version 0.9.4.178.g259772ba

OS X 10.8.5 (12F37)

Any help I can get would be great. It crashes sometimes when I am listening to music, changing music selections and very often when I start altering playlists.  It crashes fairly often, like 2-3 times in 8 hrs of use.

Thank you!

Win 7

0.9.4.185.g7545a404

Finland

Keeps crashing when I play a song after 10-20 seconds

I can't open Spotify, it crashes right after I try to run it.

Happens on Windows 8, version 0.9.4.185

Tuning in from The Netherlands

Operating system affected: Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit).

Version of Spotify: The newest one available on the web site.

Country: USA.

It loads at boot time and once it gets to the point where it minimizes into my system tray it randomly closes.  No error message.  No issues reported in the logs.  Dead.  I've reinstalled several times now and it doesn't help.  I've used the web client and it works fine but I switched to spotify so I didn't have to use a web client as I don't like the bloat of most browsers.

@CireSnave - Does this issue go away if you set it not to auto launch in Edit/Spotify > Preferences and then launch manually once your system is running?

I have been having crashes on startups for the last week and more. They all revolve around the Discover page. The client always starts on this page, for me. Quickly clicking away from that page seems to stop if from crashing. This naturally not ideal.

After doing some research I came across this Suggested Workaround

While the client started as normal, again it is not ideal to start the client from the command line overtime.  I took the arguments from that above linked command:

--disable-accelerated-layers --disable-accelerated-fixed-root-background

And added them to the end of the spotify.exe application name under the file properties. So the name of the exe file will now be:

spotify --disable-accelerated-layers --disable-accelerated-fixed-root-background

I now can launch Spotify as normal - landing on the discover page without it crashing. Have yet to experience any other crashes.

I am on Windows 8.1.

Hi,

Since yesterday I couldn't open my spotify.

I have turned off the autoloader in the startup since the beginning, I've always preferred to execute spotify by myself when I wanted to listen music, so, this is not my issue.

My problem is that when I execute Spotify, it shuts down in less than 5 seconds. I couldn't even click on it in the system tray or the tools bar because it closes so fast.

My operative system is: Windows 7 64 bits.

Country: Spain, premium user.

My version... I don't know because It doesn't let me check it.

I can log and hear music in Spotify web player, but I really want to use the program.

Any help?

Thanks.

Have you tried a clean reinstallation @KaNeaS ?

I'm experiencing this problem as well. It's been five days or so now. I'm running on Mac OS X 10.6.8, and I've never had this problem before. I click on the Spotify icon, it starts loading for 3-4 sec and then closes immediately. It doesn't help to click on something else than the Discover-page when the program is loading. I've tried a clean re-installation but it didn't work. I've also tried to log in on my boyfriends Windows computer, and there's no problem at all. I haven't downloaded or changed anything since the problem showed up. I'm not sure what to try next, but it's really annoying 😞

Operation system: Mac OS X 10.6.8

Version of Spotify: newest on the downloading page

Country: Denmark
