Missing - Audio Quality Setting

Solved!

Missing - Audio Quality Setting

Hello,

My Mac Spotify App is missing the Audio Quality setting. However, it shows up in settings within my Chrome browser. When clicking the streaming quality setting, it prompts me to the download the app.

Edit to add computer specs:

MacBook Air - M5
Tahoe 26.4

Attached are a few screenshots of my situation between the browser & app. I hope to find a quick solution! TIA

Hey @nabooska, welcome to the Spotify Community! 🎵

It looks like the app could just be the Web Player bundled to look like an app. In Chromium browsers if you open certain web applications, it allows you to install them as an app where they look like one becuase they open in a separate window but in reality they are just web versions.

These are called Progressive Web Apps or PWA.

To set it back as a website, you can go to chrome://apps and uninstall Spotify from there. This won't delete anything but simply remove the PWA. You will still be able to use the Web Player.

Now coming to the audio quality setting, it is currently not available on the Web Player hence you are not seeing it in the PWA either. You can click the install app button in the Web Player or click this link to download the official full app.

It includes lots of other features that are missing from the web version like playlist mix, offline downloads, very high/lossless audio quality, etc.

Please feel free to correct me if I have misunderstood the situation.

Keep me posted. 🙂

Thanks @Amay!

Wow, I had no idea I wasn't in the official app. I've just downloaded it via your link & I'm all good now. Thanks!
