Auth:15 and Something went wrong

Solved!

Auth:15 and Something went wrong

Upon logging into windows on desktop, I'm met with the auth15 error, saying to check my firewall/disable it or checking a different proxy. I've disabled my firewall and also checked Spotify to be allowed through the firewall, neither worked. Upon going onto browser and logging in I'm met with "Something went wrong". I have tried different browsers and different accounts, all give me auth15 or something went wrong when it comes to the desktop app and webplayer. Only on my desktop, previously it worked fine. For about 4-5 months I had Spotify working fine and after I believe an update it no longer worked.

I have tried an uninstall and re-install

I do not have a VPN on

I am logging in from the US and my account is in the US
I have tried the Microsoft store Spotify and the website download
I have tried a clean install and even deleted ALL files on my PC with Spotify in them

I have tried completely disabling my firewall

Spotify continues to work on my phone (Samsung Galaxy Note 9) as well as the web player on my phone, Xbox, PlayStation, and even Alexa.

The only device Spotify does not want to work with is my desktop and this is after an update/certain date that I don't recall, no matter the account and be it the app or browser. I've been up and down the community posts to see what people said about this exact issue and what fixed it for them, only to get no fix so far.

Hi @K3Zodiac,

Thank you for posting and sharing all this detailed information, it is of great help!

We suggest you start by clearing the Hosts file on your PC, as this might be causing trouble. You can find the instructions here.

If this doesn't do the trick, please try connecting to another internet network and test the app again.

Keep us posted.
