[BUG] Desktop App has a Blank Screen (with only File, Edit and View) on the Menu Strip

Hello all,

Recently, whenever Spotify opens, it looks like the picture shown below. I have looked up many solutions, however none of them worked. Things I have tried:

- Uninstalling/reinstalling Spotify through the Apps and Features menu (clean reinstall).

- Uninstalling/reinstalling Spotify by deleting all files in my C: Drive that contained the word Spotify in it as well as deleting all files in %appdata% and %localappdata%.

- Clicking on View > Hardware acceleration (turning it on and off, neither did anything)

- Changing the Target of the Spotify shortcut to include "--disable-accelerated-layers --disable-accelerated-fixed-root-background".

- Trying to locate a file called ru.mo in %appdata%\Spotify\locales (didn't exist)

- Ensuring that none of the Spotify executable files or shortcuts are in compatibility mode.

So far nothing has effected my issue in the slightest.

Someone please help. Thanks in advance.

Alex

Hey  @alexb027

It's a weird bug, but fortunately I can say it's currently being looked into!

So, hopefully it gets sorted out soon, and meanwhile you can use the web player (open.spotify.com) or mobile apps! 🙂
(reverting to older version of Spotify could be an option too, but not as recommended)

Having the same problem here, after just manully updating from 1.0.53.758 to 1.0.67.582.

My installation is on a domain connected PC at work, with software restriction policies (exception added for spotify, and there's nothing in the application log stating that the app was blocked by the software restriction policy), we also have other fairly standard corporate network configuration (roaming profiles, folder redirection for Document, Desktop, AppData, etc).

Don't know if this info is useful to Spotify to help them investigate and fix, but it looks like I've shot myself in the foot updating to this version, as I don't think I can go back to the old one now (unless someone can redirect me to the installer for an older version?)

All work and no spotify, makes WalterWeight a dull boy. 😞

Hey, someone found the fix for it.

Its a bug that can fix all errors for users with a domain.

The link: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Desktop-Linux-Windows-Web-Player/Blank-Screen/td-p/2153718

Please pass this on to the devs, as it is not a hard fix but will make Spotify more usable for people on domains like schools, home networks and even businesses.
