I have windows 10. I set the option to have Spotify in the notification area instead of closing it when i close the window. Also I have the media overlay enabled (the one embedded in the vertical volume slider like groove music).
When, for any reason, the Windows Explorer (explorer.exe - the program providing the desktop interface of Windows) crashes and restarts I find that:
- The notification area icon is gone, forcing me to "open" Spotify again (double click the link on my desktop) to get the window to show.
- The media overlay feature does not work, forcing me to "open" Spotify again (double click the link on my desktop) to get the window to show and use the play/pause, previous, next buttons from there.
- Media playback control keys on my keyboard (play/pause, and next) stop working!
Terminating all of the Spotify processes and then restarting Spotify is a frustrating workaround, but it works. Still, it is very unpractical.
Please solve this issue for people who have unstable Windows systems.
