Hi all,
I wanted to just let you know about an error/bug when streaming Spotify to Bluetooth speakers from my laptop.
Basically, when spotify is running and I then connect my bluetooth speakers Music wont play at all. The "play" button will indicate music is playing but nothing is playing, and the track stays at 0:00.
To fix this I need to restart Spotify and it will then work without any problems and play through the speakers.
This doesn't happen with any other programs, such as iTunes or VLC player, so my guess is that it is to do with Spotify.
Also, this only happens from the Desktop version, the Webplayer works fine too.
Please fix this, as it is rather annoying.
Thanks,
Marc
Yes this a serious issues, but even more annoying is the interruption when you get a sound notification like email.
Spotify does reclaimed the volume.
I was shocked to see this has been going on for so long - Spotify usually quite responsive - surely the playing and listening experience must override 'new features'.
Come on!!
I just wanted to thank those who replied to this thread. I have just spent ages trying to figure out why no sound was coming out of my bluetooth speaker. I am on a Macbook and Itunes was playing through it fine but nothing from Spotify. As per the advice, had to restart Spotify and it worked.
It does seem odd that this bug has been around for so long. Sort it out Spotify!
Geeez..... Really? Spotify fix plzbbq
HEY WAIT
The music playing on Spotify just went from playing out of my laptop's speakers to my bluetooth speaker as soon as it connected. I think this means the issue has been fixed!
HOORAY (^_^)
I've actually been noticing that my Bluetooth connection has been getting worse, not better. Have other people confirmed that their issue has been solved?

Nope, it's not fixed, at least not in the Mac version.
Nope. Still not fixed. I couldn't concentrate on my work because I had to restart Spotify so many times today. Really, really annoyed.
Please fix this already!!! 😡😡😡
This bug is still happening woo! Three years later.
Still having the issue in 1.0.14.124.g4dfabc51 on Mac. After switching to from bluetooth headphones to internal speakers and the other way round, I have to restart spotify everytime. Sure don't have to tell how annoying that is. Mac OSX is 10.10.4 running on MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013)
Having this bug as well.
Yep, me too. Thought it was just me. Have to restart Spotify to get music to play over Bluetooth. 6-7 times a day!
Just had the same problem, fairly recent install of Spotify (signed up to Premium but I think I am stil on my trial period), hooked up new Bluetooth speakers to Windows 7 laptop and was able to play to them just fine from YouTube, but Spotify pretended to play with no sound coming out anywhere. Restarted Spotify and it worked.
This is pretty poor, particularly that the problem has been going on so long.
Same problem here, playback would sometimes stop, it might switch to mono audio, I have to restart Spotify a lot as well, very annoying. I hope this gets fixed soon. I am using the Bose Soundlink Bluetooth headphones.
LE: Desktop client, on OSX 10.11, thought it was the same on 10.10 too.
I'm a programmer and can tell you that it does not take 3 years to resolve such a simple sound card issue especially, when investing in so many other 'upgrades and features'. By leaving this issue unresolved for long, the company has basically stated they do not value this population of users. Instead it places value upon its mobile clientel. Well, I happen to be a premium user for years and have recently started to work from home only to find such dissappoint with an otherwsie wonderful product. I will be switching to iTunes now as I am constantly on my bluetooth headset for calls and would truly find 'switching' just to listen to music an inconvenience. I pay $10/Month not to be inconvienced. I have advised my coworkers, friends and family to leave Spotify due to the company's dismissal of a small but meaningful population that has been suffering with this problem for three years. The same friends, coworkers and family I convinced to sign up several years ago. Thank you Spotify
I have the same problem!! help
Does this problem of playing to portable bluetooth devices occur with Android smartphones?
that didn't answer the question they asked
