Bluetooth speakers and spotify

Bluetooth speakers and spotify

Hi all,

I wanted to just let you know about an error/bug when streaming Spotify to Bluetooth speakers from my laptop.

Basically, when spotify is running and I then connect my bluetooth speakers Music wont play at all. The "play" button will indicate music is playing but nothing is playing, and the track stays at 0:00.

To fix this I need to restart Spotify and it will then work without any problems and play through the speakers.

This doesn't happen with any other programs, such as iTunes or VLC player, so my guess is that it is to do with Spotify.

Also, this only happens from the Desktop version, the Webplayer works fine too.

Please fix this, as it is rather annoying.

Thanks,

Marc

I have a school laptop and wanted to connect my beats pill to my laptop, it says its connected but spotify is not working on the speaker but on the laptop.

4/5 times, I can connect to my bluetooth speaker and spotify continues to play. I haven't worked out what changes that causes it to be unable to play the current song when I connect to the speaker again. The error doesn't occur every time I connect to my bluetooth speaker, but just now and again.

It's been 4 years.  Shouldn't it be fixed by now?

Hey @lwall@sushibear2002.

We're sorry to hear you're still having issues.

Just to make sure we have everything, can you let us know what devices, operating systems and versions of Spotify you're rocking?

Also, do you have any firmware updates to your devices and bluetooth speakers?

Keep us updated 🙂

Having this exact issue with

Windows 10

Lenovo T460p

JBL Everest Elite 700

When bluetooth headphones are re-connected, the spotify app (1.0.53.758.gde3fc4b2) is unable to resume playback. When I close spotify, it is unable to restart, untill all spotify processes are manually killed from Task Manager.

Yep! Except I can turn off Spotify and turn it back on, and it STILL won't play through my Bluetooth Speaker.

2012 Macbook Air

macOS Sierra 10.12.5

Spotify will play perfectly on the Mac, but will only play 2/3 seconds via bluetooth speaker before cutting out.  Restarting Mac several times has made no difference.

Spotify on android to same bluetooth speaker working perfectly well.

Same here, latest Spotify desktop app, mac OS 10.11.6 MBP - Blutooth speaker is Megaboom, have to restart Spotify, usually, sometimes it work though

I'm having a vaguely similar issue lately, but with my bluetooth headset and the desktop Spotify application. I have a pair of Skullcandy bluetooth cans, and they were working perfectly with my Macbook (newer with the USB-C ports, using the latest OS). Lately when my headphones are paired with my laptop, everything plays through them except Spotify on desktop. iTunes, web browsing, YouTube, etc is fine, only Spotify desktop doesn't--it will either play through my macs speakers, or not at all, it varies. Spotify's web player will play through the headphones.

Spotify on my phone works just fine with my headset.

Halp, it's so weird! Also I can still control my music from the desktop app when playing via my phone when I have the bluetooth cans on...which is the loophole I've been using.

I'm having similar issues --  the music I am playing on my phone cuts in and out on my bluetooth speaker no matter how close my phone is to the speaker.  There is no issue when I play music through itunes.  I have restared, reconnected the bluetooth, deleted the spotify app and reloaded it.  This is new - I have been using this speaker with the spotify app on my phone for at least one year with no problems until the last few weeks. What can I do?

May be coincidence but this cutting out only seems to happen with Classical music. Every other playlist or album is fine. Anyone else have the problem?

Windows 10 verson 15063.608 Ive been able to connect my Vizio soundbar, albeit I'd have to remove the speaker everytime and research for it, add it everytime...pia. So, now, it's not connecting at all. Restarting everything, laptop, soundbar, and Spotify and can hear notifications going thru it, but now no Spotify.  I had it for a little while, which is luckier than most on this thread. The bluetooth set up is different.  I have to "add" it now and it's showing the laptop as a connected device...what?  I can use my Android phone, but when your talking to someone it stops. So frustrated and this threads been going on since 2015, it's now 2017 and this ain't fixed yet?  Get on it!!!

Well...I'm going to say what no one else wants to say.... Spotify is NOT interested in keeping clients. This issue has gone on far too long, with little to no support for its customers. I am running a top of the line Win10 machine, and high-end Bluetooth speakers. Bluetooth is meant to be the all-purpose, no-headache, user-friendly way to connect compatible devices to each other. Spotify - the only reason I keep you is free trial. When that is done - goodbye!

Funny how it is working with no issues anymore. BUT you make a good point
in regards to Spotify not doing anything to fix these bugs...I pay monthly
for the service and the phone app is decent, however the PC app is not. Too
small lettering even expanded. Laggy and just weak. Need another ad free
music player besides Pandora cuz I want to listen to the song, not just the
musician and wait. Not enough control.

Same issue here on my laptop on the latest Kubuntu and JBL Flip 3.

I pair the blutooth device with success and music goes through VLC or any browser just fine.

But spotify's desktop app outputs on the laptop's integrated speakers no matter what (I restarted spotify of course). No configuration given to the user in the settings = I cannot do anything about it.

Could you please look into it and tell us about any possible fix?

So...to add to my grievance. It seems the only workaround (to getting Spotify to work properly on my PC) is to start it playing from my phone, and then on the PC Spotify "switch" control to the PC. It seems that having the app open on both the PC and my iPhone keeps things working correctly. If I only use the PC - speaker drops. Very strange behavior Spotify!

Just a thought that ended up working for me...reinstall.

Nope...that does not seem to work. Other users (as well as myself) have
tried this - no joy.

It might work for some, but not for most.

Did not work for me (as well as other users on this thread).

Performed the full remove, reboot, reinstall - no joy!

Hey my is Serena Symington and I am having a problem with connecting my MPOW Thor bluetooth headphones to my Chrome book so I can listen to my Spotify music and you please help me fast
