Can't turn off Canvas loop

Can't turn off Canvas loop

Music stopped playing because Spotify paused loading a music video, what a wonderful addition, and I went to turn the Canvas loop off only to find the option greyed  out. Everything else in the settings was turned off and on again to see if there was a change but I just stayed greyed out. I turned it off on my phone just to see if anything happened, it's still greyed out. I am out of ideas and would like this wonderful feature to turn off sooner rather then later. I linked screenshots and a video of the settings menu but I don't know how much help they will be.(idk what else to show so here's a video)  top halftop halfwhole halfwhole halfbottom halfbottom half

Hi there @Prove,

Thanks for reaching out. We'll be glad to help you freely manage all the settings.

Does this only happen on the Windows app? You mentioned restarting your phone, what does it look like there? To cover our bases, try performing a full clean reinstall to fix any damaged cache that might be causing something like this. This should unlock the settings and allow you to disable Canvas if you want to.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi Joan, I have the same issue as Prove here. This issue only affects the Windows app, not my Android app. This changed very recently, within the last couple of weeks. Now songs marked with a "music video" forcibly play their music video in place of an album cover in the bottom tray, while songs without a "music video" label display the album in that spot as normal.

I uninstalled the program, and reinstalled a fresh copy from the Spotify website. The result is the following default settings, with Canvas still greyed out:

Please advise what to do next. The videos go against system accessibility settings on my computer (low animations everywhere possible). They cause me migraines, I have to close the app to avoid videos popping up now.

Hi @lith1umb4tt3ry, @Prove,

Thanks for the replies.

So far we've been unable to repro this, but the issue definitely warrants a further investigation so we've reported it to the appropriate team. While we look into it, consider checking out the following:

  • Please send us the exact Spotify Version you use.
  • Try both the version of the app from our website and from the Microsoft Store and see if the behaviour is the same across both.
  • See if turning off hardware acceleration makes a difference.

Cheers!

Hey folks,

Thank you for your patience.

We received some info from the teams about this and it seems that when the “Reduced Motion” is enabled on a system level, the option greys out. While team is working on a solution for this, we recommend following these steps in the meantime:

1. Disabling the "Reduced motion" option on the OS
2. Disable canvas on Desktop
3. Re-enable "Reduced motion"

Cheers!
